August 2015

The Chamber has taken on many different venues as we work to promote our wonderful county. We have done the Chamber Monthly Breakfast for many years and enjoyed by our early risers who come out to have a good breakfast and see their business friends and acquaintances and hear from business professionals as they present the program. We have talked about doing a Business After Hours for quite a while.  Well..... we are ready to do the first Business After Hours on August 18, 2015

On August 18th we will kick off the Chamber After Hours and it will be held at Johnson Insurance Agency at 1031 West Main Street, Centre, AL. Hours is 5:00 to 6:30 and this is a come and go event.

Museum Open House
On Saturday August 22nd, the Cherokee County Historical Museum staff is having a open house for members and volunteers to thank all of you that have supported us over the years and possibly just recently. We will serve hot dogs with all the trimmings and of course the admission and food are free.

If you are not currently a member, this would be a great time to join or renew. We will have new authors here for book signing, along with new exhibits that are either finished or in the process of completion. Bring the family and help us to celebrate all you have done to help us grow.

The Cherokee County Historical Museum is proud to announce the showing of works by Jo Sewell, local artist and retired teacher.  She is presently painting a wall in the museum basement of a farm exhibit funded by the Tillotson-Menlo Foundation.

The museum is also in need of volunteers.  If this something that would interest you call the Museum at 256-927-7835
Weiss Lake Improvement
Weiss Lake Improvement Association is sponsoring a raffle to assist in funding of the repair and replacement of Weiss Lake Channel Markers.  The raffle is for a large framed photo of Weiss Lake.  This will be on display at the August Chamber Breakfast and you can purchase tickets after the breakfast.  The raffle tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00.
