Dear NEPTA Members,
It was my great pleasure to see so many of you at our first meeting of the year on Sept. 23 refreshed and replenished after the summer! I hope you all enjoyed the meeting and pleasant company of colleagues and friends!

Nancy Breth launched our Speaker Series with a comprehensive discussion and suggestions on proper practice habits we can develop in our students. We have available for you
expertly prepared notes written by Linda Vieira, along with Nancy Breth's handout from the meeting.
Our next program on Monday, Oct. 28 at 9:30 AM promises to enlighten and inspire us. Rami Bar-Niv, pianist, composer, instructor of master classes, and author of the book The Art of Piano Fingering, will offer a presentation "Piano Playing Fingering, Technique, and Interpretation."
Please plan to arrive early for NEPTA's monthly music sale beginning at 9AM, managed so greatly by Ruth Ross and benefitting NEPTA's Scholarship Fund.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Best regards,
Irina Y. Gelman,

STUDENT RECITAL AND COMPETITION FORMS ONLINE
All NEPTA Student Recital and Competition Applications are online as of Tuesday, Oct. 15! Please view the new forms on NEPTA's website, after logging in with your name and password. You will be delighted with the ease of use and time saved.
The online forms are amazingly user-friendly. They allow teachers to send multiple students' information, completely paper- and postage-free; receive instant records of each application; and pay with a credit card. Teachers can then download a spreadsheet from the application page, near the top, with all the students they have entered.
Recital and Competition Chairs receive an online record of each application, just seconds after the teacher who is applying presses the "pay" button. The Chairs can download a spreadsheet with all the students entered for a recital or competition.
The applications are also available in downloadable paper form, for this year only. We urge you to go green and embrace the new!

MUSIC SALE
Our Music Sale is back by popular demand, once again organized by Ruth Ross, Music Library and Donation Chair. Please join us prior to NEPTA's monthly meetings at The First Parish starting at 9 AM. Members are asked to bring their checkbooks and any music that they are willing to donate that morning.
The sale serves three purposes:
- Teachers have access to music that, perhaps, has gone out of print
- Standard teaching methods and collections can be acquired at a very reasonable price
- All proceeds go directly to the NEPTA Scholarship Fund
Please direct any questions to Ruth Ross at rross@aol.com.

PARKING REMINDER
Please be aware that Watertown has restricted parking on the side streets immediately surrounding the First Parish and thus eliminating any "free parking." The metered spots in the parking lot adjacent to the church can accept coins up to a maximum of 8 hours (blue meters only), thereby removing the need to go feed the meter during our meeting breaks, offering instead an opportunity to socialize with NEPTA friends and colleagues.
