2010 State & County Hospital Breastfeeding Reports Released
|
The 2010 Policy Update on California Breastfeeding and Hospital Performance was recently released by the California WIC Association and the UC Davis Human Lactation Center. The State and County-specific reports affirm the importance of exclusive breastfeeding promotion at the hospital level. In 2010, the average rate of any breastfeeding in Orange County was 92.7% and 55.6% for exclusive breastfeeding. Orange County currently has five Baby-Friendly hospitals.
At MOMS Orange County, we support our clients before, during and after their breastfeeding experience. MOMS encourages exclusive breastfeeding to protect the health of mothers and infants, and supports our hospital partners' policies and practices to increase initiation and duration of breastfeeding, particularly exclusive breastfeeding, as well as greater acceptance of breastfeeding as the accepted norm.
