Esco Optics Rises From the Ashes
Esco Optics Rising Above As you may know, on August 10th a fire broke out at Esco Optics main facility in Oak Ridge, NJ, causing significant damage. Many companies in the optics industry have provided a helping hand to ensure that Esco Optics bounces back from this unfortunate event.

Damage to some of Esco's high tech optical fabrication equipment was among the losses incurred from the fire. To ensure that their manufacturing capabilities and capacities are as impressive as ever, Esco has been working with OptiPro to implement the latest CNC optical grinding, polishing, and metrology solutions.

Jason Vantassel, Optical Technician, operates the PRO 80P high speed spherical polisher

To help Esco get their shop back up and running quickly, OptiPro provided the following equipment with expedited lead times:

As Esco Optics nears a full recovery, the investment of five optical fabrication solutions from OptiPro illustrates Esco's relentless commitment to be a leading manufacturer of precision optics.

"The purchase of the OptiPro equipment allows Esco to refine our processes while increasing our throughput capacity as well. The addition of the OptiTrace 5000 Contact Profilometer to the package will allow us to enhance the confidence of our customers by providing state of the art metrology," said Lee Steneken, President of Esco Optics.

Twelve Students Graduate from Fall 2014 OptiPro U Class!
Fall 2014 OptiPro U Class in OptiPro's APD Lab
OptiPro recently completed the Fall 2014 session of OptiPro U, the week-long training course that consists of lectures and hands-on experience for individuals looking to polish their skills in CNC advanced optical manufacturing. The class included 12 students covering a wide spectrum of skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Optics companies from across the U.S. were represented in the Fall 2014 class. It was the seventh graduating class of OptiPro U since the course was established back in August 2010.

One of the students shared his thoughts on OptiPro U:

"Grinding and polishing optics is a new world for me so I enjoyed the whole course. I learned a lot of new material that I feel will help me in the future. The instructors were very knowledgeable and the operators in the lab did an awesome job. Everything was covered very well and all questions that the class asked were given informative answers."

- Brad McKinley, Optical Technician at FLIR Systems

OptiPro will be holding the Spring 2015 OptiPro U course March 2nd-6th. Seating is limited and sign up is first come, first served. If you are interested in registering, please contact Danielle Bechtold at 585-265-0160 x245 or dbechtold@optipro.com.
