OptiPro SystemsJanos Technology: OptiPro Committed to Customer Service, Innovation
Janos Technology and the eSX 125 Twin
The OptiPro eSX 125 Twin at Janos Technology has been a "work horse" for over 10 years.

Janos Technology, located in Keene, NH, specializes in the cost effective manufacture of Mid Wave and Long Wave Infrared Optics. Janos Tech offers a line of standard lenses to facilitate concept development and scientific research. The company also designs custom lenses for specific volume applications, sourcing materials on a global basis and manufacturing using the latest lean techniques.

One of these techniques involves the utilization of a machine Janos Tech purchased back in 2003, OptiPro's eSX 125 Twin. Janos uses the eSX 125 Twin to grind IR materials such as silicon, germanium, and chalcogenide. 10 years later, the machine still performs as good as the day it was first installed.

"We took delivery of our first OptiPro grinding machine, the eSX 125 Twin, in 2003." To this day, our 'OptiPro' continues to be the work horse of our fleet. The user friendly CNC front end and robust platform translates to quick set-ups and process stability," says Joe Botelho, Process Engineer at Janos Tech. He goes on to say: "Above and beyond the machine performance, OptiPro provides unparalleled customer service and application support. It is apparent that OptiPro is staffed with engineers having years of experience in their field. The response is fast, knowledgeable and friendly. Any parts we may need are in stock and available for delivery."

Botelho also appreciates that OptiPro continues to stay ahead of the technological curve: "I am excited to see that OptiPro is developing new products based on the changing manufacturing demands. The small footprint, PRO 80 series for grinding, high speed polishing, sub-aperture finishing and vertical interferometry is an excellent example. In my estimation, OptiPro has established itself as a company committed to providing state of the art optical fabrication machines."

Janos Technology, LLC. is a world leader in advanced infrared optical components and assemblies. Combining opto-mechanical design, automated equipment in fabrication and coating, and extensive metrology capabilities, Janos provides high performance optical solutions across a broad IR spectrum. Janos Technology recently launched a new website. Check it out by going to www.janostech.com.

OptiPro Announces the Hiring of Two New Employees!
Chip Simmons and Danielle Bechtold
Chip Simmons and Danielle Bechtold, the two newest members of the OptiPro team.

OptiPro continues to grow! We are excited to announce two new members to the OptiPro team: Chip Simmons and Danielle Bechtold, both of whom have many years of experience in the optics industry. Chip Simmons joins the Advanced Process Development (APD) lab as Project Manager, while Danielle Bechtold will take on the roll of Sales Coordinator.

Chip Simmons' advanced skill-set in all areas of precision optics manufacturing will play a vital role in the efficient turnaround of APD projects that help justify capital equipment expenditure for our customers. Chip brings over 30 years of experience in the precision optics industry to OptiPro and has held a variety of roles pertaining to precision optics manufacturing, including Optician, Process Technician, Manufacturing Process Engineer, and Manager of Traditional Optics. In the early 1990's, while working at Kodak, Chip assisted OptiPro (formerly CNC Systems) in the development of the first affordable CNC optical grinding machine, the Opticam SX.

Danielle will be providing our optics customers with unparalleled service and support in addition to helping them determine the right OptiPro machine solution for their manufacturing requirements. Danielle has 11 years of experience in the precision optics industry and most recently worked as Production Control Coordinator. Danielle's prior experience will help OptiPro to even further understand and fulfill the needs of our optics customers. Danielle is currently working toward her degree in Mechanical Technology from Monroe Community College.

We are thrilled to have Chip and Danielle join in OptiPro's continuous effort to help our customers prosper through innovative optical manufacturing solutions.

Learn more about OptiPro U >>

The Spring 2013 OptiPro U course on Advanced Optical Manufacturing is filling up fast! Only 5 spots remain for the course, which will be held April 22nd to 26th at OptiPro's state-of-the-art facility in Ontario, NY. OptiPro recently expanded its Advanced Process Development (APD) lab from roughly 2,800 square feet to about 4,250 square feet to accommodate increased business activity for optical manufacturing equipment. A larger APD lab means more machines for our students to utilize throughout the week-long course!

OptiPro U allows students to learn how to use the latest CNC optical fabrication equipment and metrology solutions developed at OptiPro. Throughout the week, students will learn the history and the theory behind precision optics fabrication. Emphasis is placed on deterministic microgrinding of spheres and aspheres, high-speed polishing of spheres, and sub-aperture polishing of aspheres while implementing interferometric and profilometer metrology systems.

Students will also receive ample hands on experience in putting classroom lectures to practice by using OptiPro's APD laboratory. Here, they will use the latest OptiPro eSX grinding, ePX high-speed polishing, and UltraForm Finishing (UFF) platforms, as well as the OptiTrace 5000 profilometer and PRO Tower vertical interferometer.

Cost for the entire week of training is only $1,750 and includes lunch, dinner and special evening activities. To sign up, download and complete the registration form, then send to Danielle Bechtold at dbechtold@optipro.com.
