As seen in Manufacturing News - AccuteX EDM, a Division of Absolute Machine Tools Inc. recently introduced its heavy-duty DS-550CM die sinker EDM.

Its XYZ working capacity is 20" x 16" x 14". The worktable size is 32" x 18". Maximum workpiece size is 47" x 27" x 17", and the machine can accommodate workpiece weights up to 2,970 lbs. AccuteX designed the EDM using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to help ensure high accuracy machining. Further contributing to its rigidity is a heavily ribbed, high-grade Meehanite casting. Premium grade components, such as precise drive system, linear bearings, class 5 pretensioned fine finish ballscrews and high resolution servo motors are used, along with roller type linear guideways and optical scales.

Options for the DS-550 designed for greater flexibility include a built-in C-axis with 360-degree indexing, an automatic electrode changer, dielectric cooler and custom tooling package. Customers can perform 3-axis machining in six directions, multi-cavity, circular, square and any angle orbiting, internal/external spherical and 45-degree corner machining.  Further, the EDM can do 3-axis linear machining, 2-axis arc machining and offers helical machining electrode compensation.

The AccuteX control's 15" industrial grade LCD monitor is easy to read and in full color. Its software supports dialogue options for simple, straight-forward programming and operation.

Y-Axis Control Enhances Multi-Tasking Live Tooling Capabilities 

As seen in Manufacturing News - The Goodway GS-200 series turning centers features two bed lengths (utilizing the same design) and three spindle sizes offer a total of 36 model configurations to suit a variety of applications. Furthermore, C-axis, Y-axis and sub-spindle capabilities, milling, drilling and front/back-end turning applications may be completed in one single machine with available live tooling.

Among all the GS-200 series machines, Y-axis control is engineered to further enhance multi-tasking live tooling capabilities and improve various machining precision. High precision grooving and X-axis off-center drilling are enabled. On Y-axis equipped machines, the turret is mounted on  secondary 30-degree wedge saddle on top of the X-axis slide. Both X and Y axes have extra wide hardened and ground box ways, which are directly formed onto the saddles during the casting process. They are precision machined and widely spaced for maximum strength. With an abundant amount of Y-axis travel, a wide variety of parts may be efficiently machined.
