Executive Protection International Conference (EPIC)
The International Executive Protection Conference
in Las Vegas December 1 & 2
From Bob Duggan, Founder of ESI

"There is not a lot of time left to make arrangements to attend the first joint ESI - EPI Conference on Security Responses to Global Crisis. This conference is historic in that it represents the first time that the two oldest and largest executive protection training academies have formed a coalition to co-sponsor a conference of critical interest to security professionals.

On December 1st Cynthia Hertherington who will address corporate fraud and Rick Sweeny who will discuss running protective operations in Mexico.
Sunday December 2nd our thematic question for the security industry is timely:
"What are the Security Responses to a Growing Global Crisis?"
We have invited speakers who represent a very large slice of the global economy: Microsoft, Target Corp, McDonald's Corporation, Garda World, and in panel discussion: Eaton Power Company, Wal-Mart and others.
Our Emcee of the day is Pete Dordal, Senior Vice President of Garda World Security Corporation and a member of ESI's Board of Directors. As the Managing Director of International Security Operations for Garda World, Pete is intimately familiar with assessing the crisis of failing sovereign states from Mexico to the Middle East.

Charles Randolph, Director of Intelligence and Protection for Microsoft, EPI graduate and NLA Member, will address the issues that go beyond the tactical into larger questions of understanding how a Global Executive Protection Unit track, monitor and respond to threats whether climatic or social disorder. Charles is interested in discussing how the various parts of corporate organization build bridges of support for Crisis Managers and the Executive Protection Unit during and prior to a crisis.
Beth Brown, Manager of Target's Corporate Command Center, just returned from the East Coast Mega Storm, Sandy, in which 8,000,000 people and businesses loss power. Whether the threat is human or natural, multi-national corporations must respond to the human predicament of loss of life and property. Beth will discuss the growing international crisis management issues caused by natural disasters taking into account the growing social disorganization caused by Super Storms like Katrina and Sandy, earthquakes like Haiti or a Tsunami in Indonesia. Multi national corporations must respond to a growing list of national turmoil.

Filippo Marino, Director, Executive Protection & Intelligence, McDonald's Corporation (EPI graduate and NLA Member) manages a worldwide security operation in a changing global landscape. Mr. Marino will speak to the issue of what has changed in the last ten years for multi-national corporations in Crisis Management discipline. He will address the velocity of global real-time communication and the impact of social media on senior management during a crises and how this new fact affects Executive Protection operations. Crisis Management textbooks will not tell you how to deploy best practices in highly complex and global organizations rapid shifts in cultural/political environments while preserving corporate legacy. Finally, in accordance with other top thinkers in the security profession, he will emphasize the role of information and intelligence and building core competencies for risk professionals.
We will complete the special day on Security Responses to Global Crisis Management with a lively Panel Discussion Emceed by Pete Dordal and include the principal speakers plus Rick Colliver, Executive Director of Executive Protection for Eaton Power Company and Charles Mauldin, Manager of Special Services of Wal-Mart.

EPI Founder, Dr. Richard W.
