Cowspiracy: The film environmental organisations don't want you to see by Alison Waters
"So controversial is the subject matter of a new eco-documentary that funders backed out and many environmental groups refused to give interviews to the filmmakers..."
"Some organisations were incredibly resistant or outright refused to discuss the topic, while others seemed completely oblivious to what animal agriculture is doing to our planet," says Kuhn (Co-Director of Cowspiracy)

Cowspiracy Short (the water footprint of animal agriculture)
Watch this 1 minute teaser from the producers of Cowspiracy:
..."California is suffering from the worst drought in over 100 years, with 80% of the state classified as areas of "extreme drought." Some experts predict the scarcity will last for decades.
In response to the extreme drought, the federal government has granted California livestock ranchers at least *$100 million* in additional funding for disaster recovery relief. Meat and dairy require an enormous amount of water before making it onto your plate. 1 pound of California hamburger beef requires 2,463 gallons of water. 880 gallons of water are needed to produce just 1 gallon of milk. 1 egg equals 60-120 gallons of water...." (it takes 18 gallons of water for 1 apple)
The Dandelion Prerogative By Carrie Plummer (A founding member of NV)
..."Dandelions are very high in vitamins and minerals like Vitamin A and have as much Vitamin C by weight as grapefruits. In fact, the U.S. Department of Agriculture says dandelions pack more nutritional punch than even broccoli and spinach. You can make a coffee substitute, wine, and jelly out of them. They stimulate and aid the liver in the elimination of toxins from the blood and are used for breast tumors, cysts, fevers, kidney and gall stones, P.M.S., menopause, hypoglycemia, recent onset diabetes, high blood pressure, digestive disturbances, and hepatitis. They are also used as a skin cleanser and help increase production of mother's milk! Oh, and best of all - they're free!..." A Compilation of Long-Term Vegans: Our Powerful Message
This is very inspiring!
Vanda Kadas has been vegan for over 20 years
"My dear friends, I prefer to refer to myself as 'Vegan Vanda'..lol...Veganism is what I live by...veganism is what I live for! I am envisioning a vegan world, where the ethical baseline is veganism! I envision the liberation of all our fellow sentient beings, aka the nonhuman animals, from slavery! Nonhuman animals are not ours to exploit! The change is happening, and I know the world has no choice but to get to veganism! I have been a vegan for 20 years and I came a long way, and now at age 48, I am very proud to be a vegan! Having been born and raised in small town in Hungary, in Eastern Europe, my upbringing was as violent as it can get. I spent a lot of time as a child on my grandparents' farm in my formative years. I witnessed the regular slaughter of my playmates at the time: the pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and more.. I witnessed with shock how grandma was forcefeeding poor ducks... who could not move their head between grandma's strong knees..hmmm.. I witnessed hunting, the disposal of newborn kitties, and much more.. I feel thankful for all horrors I saw, since these events shaped me to become Vegan Vanda!"

The Meaty Truth: Why Our Food Is Destroying Our Health and Environment-and Who Is Responsible By Shushana Castle and Amy-Lee Goodman
The Meaty Truth is an eye-opening look at the massive problems caused by the American population's food supply. Water, meat, and milk and other dairy products are filled with toxins, antibiotics, untested growth hormones, ammonia, and animal pus and manure. The current conditions of the food production industry must drastically improve, and until they do, it is absolutely vital to monitor what you eat. Castle and Goodman take a hard-hitting look at what America is putting into its food, the negative effects this has on the world, and the best ways to make healthy, informed decisions about eating.
As the antibiotic age ends, the rise of pandemic diseases is approaching. Approximately half of the illnesses that claim American lives today are related to what we eat, and our health-care system is focused on treating the sick, not preventing illnesses from occurring. To fix our health problems, to continue feeding the world's ever-growing population, and to save our planet from ecological destruction, we can no longer avoid making changes to how American meat and dairy are produced. This guide is easy to read, applicable to anyone's lifestyle, and impossible to put down.
Health Tip of the Month (finding ways to heal or to live naturally using animal-free/cruelty-free methods):
When we eat organic plant foods we save enormous amounts of resources. Plant agriculture versus animal agriculture requires far less land to feed people and far less water and fossil fuels. Someday with the absence of animal agriculture we can free up millions of acres of land and bring them back to their natural and wild states. Animals who were once endangered would now thrive. Slaughterhouses, gruesome places for both human and non-human beings, would no longer exist. Avoiding eating animal products and pesticide grown foods = good health for you and the planet and equals not supporting the exploiting and slaughtering of non-human animals. By moving away from seafood all the flora and fauna could also make a great comeback (for every 1 pound of fish caught, an average of 5 pounds of unintended marine species are caught and discarded as by-kill, for example). Organic, veganic, and sustainable plant farming practices will also phase out mono cropping- the growing of only one crop in a large area- which is so hard on the land and the pollinators. If we want healthy and bio-diverse soils we need to buy organic and naturally grown. Organic plant foods also means NO synthetic chemicals; NO GMOs; and NO irradiated foods (for longer shelf life). Let's help the bees. Let's help the animals. Let's help the soil. Let's help ourselves. Go vegan and organic!
Quote of the month:
"There are entirely new 'Ag-Gag' laws being created to silence whistleblowers who document and reveal all the atrocities animal agriculture is responsible for. It's a pretty shocking and troubling issue that there are laws preventing us from knowing how food is raised... We first and foremost want to inform as many people as possible about this destructive industry. But I'd say the overall message is that we want to empower people to feel they can actually do something to help the environment, rather than feeling helpless at the mercy of what industries are doing to our planet... We want to inspire people to speak up and take a stand!" Kip Andersen- Co-Director of Cowspiracy
