We are writing to inform you that on Thursday, February 5th, 2015, Anthem, Inc. - the parent company of 15 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans - announced it was the target of a cyber-attack that led to disclosure of personal information. It is expected to be the largest breach by a health-care company.

It is important to note that Anthem is one of 37 independent licensees of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. These companies are independently owned and operated. We do not yet know how this data breach has affected other BCBS systems as we are waiting for a response from each respective BCBS State plans. In addition, we are trying to identify any impact to members who may have received care in the Anthem service area through the National BlueCard Program. In an effort to be responsive to this extremely unfortunate development, Anthem has set up an online fact center at www.AnthemFacts.com and phone number (877-263-7995).
