With less than 6 weeks until the kick-off of the 2014 Bahamas Billfish Championship the excitement is building! Leg 1 of the 2014 series takes place in Guana Cay at Orchid Bay Resort & Marina and is hosted by Hatteras. A new chef and menus await BBC participants as well as the excellent hospitality we have become accustomed to from the staff at Orchid Bay.

Please make sure you take a minute to review the rules for this year's series. We've listened to your input and there have been a few changes made!

Now is also the time to check all of your digital cameras, video cameras and GoPro cameras. Make sure you are familiar with how they operate and what additional equipment you may need.

The Bahamas Sport Fishing Network (BSFN) is the leading online media company in the Bahamas showcasing Sport Fishing in the Bahamas for the past 3 years through our website, Facebook and Instagram pages and Twitter feed. 

Recently we partnered with one of the world's leading media companies, USA Today, to produce a series of slide shows on their website showcasing Sports Fishing in the Bahamas. The first slide show launched in February and was so successful (with over 500,000 views in 4 days!) that now a series of slide shows will be produced monthly, providing global exposure to this industry in the Bahamas.

The USA Today website generates 100 million viewers a month--29 million viewers a month on the Travel section. The second slide show was just released and can be viewed on the home page of the Travel section of the USA Today website.

The first two slide shows have reached over 700,000 views. After the launch of next month's slideshow we will exceed 1 million views!

In searching for industry partners in the Bahamas who are passionate, respected and pioneers in the industry, the BBC was the first company we wanted to contact and partner with. BSFN is very excited about the partnership and working with Jennifer and the BBC in showcasing and promoting the amazing Sport Fishing in the Bahamas!

The Jim Lambert Memorial Trophy Returns for 2014

Veteran Bahamas Billfish Championship sponsors Smith Merritt Insurance and International Special Risks have teamed again in 2014 to sponsor the Jim Lambert Memorial Trophy. The trophy is presented annually to the top overall BBC angler for the season.

     Jim Lambert was an avid BBC competitor for more than ten years and won the Championship in 1998. As a member of the BBC Steering Committee, Jim was instrumental in establishing the BBC Scholarship Fund and a strong advocate of the BBC's move to time and date stamped digital images to verify the species of released fish.

     The Jim Lambert Memorial Trophy presentation will take place at the overall awards ceremony at the conclusion of the Marsh Harbour Championship. The BBC is extremely thankful to Smith Merritt and ISR for their generosity in creating this annual award category. 

     Since the Bahamas Billfish Championship is a team competition, the new Jim Lambert Memorial Trophy gives the individual angler an opportunity to be recognized for his or her outstanding performance throughout the Series.
