What a Ride!

A great big thank you to all riders, sponsors, and supporters who rode, volunteered, and fundraised for this year's Rodman Ride for Kids on September 20th!  It was a beautiful day, with over 1,200 cyclists taking to the road to complete a 25, 50, or 100 mile course.  This year's Ride will raise over $11 million dollars to benefit 46 partner agencies serving at-risk children and families.  Visit our photo album on Facebook to see pictures from the event.

We need your help to reach our agency goal of $275,000 - please click here to support Team RFK!  With your help, we can continue our work with those most vulnerable.  Once we reach our goal, we will receive a 6% match from the Ride. Every dollar counts - every gift matters!

The Rodman Ride for Kids is completely underwritten.  This means 100% of your contribution will go directly to help the children and families at RFK Children's Action Corps.

Help Make Winter Wishes Come True

Snowman

Make this holiday season a little brighter for the boys and girls in our programs by participating in our annual Winter Wish gift drive. With your generosity, we can ensure that every single child in our care receives a gift.  This is not only a wonderful way for individuals and families to give back during the holidays, but there are also great opportunities for corporations to get involved!

National Resource Center Accepting Applications for New Technical Initiative

Office of Justice Programs' Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation announced the renewal of their partnership with a $2 million commitment to advance juvenile justice reform. As part of this work, we are now accepting applications through the RFK National Resource Center for Juvenile Justice for a Dual Status Youth Technical Assistance Initiative providing guidance and support to four competitively selected jurisdictions to improve outcomes for youth and families involved in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.  Click here to learn more about the initiative and the work of the National Resource Center.

DDAP Initiative Launched

We are excited to announce that RFK Children's Action Corps has recently received a major gift of $25,000 from Darrell W. Crate, Advisory Council member and long-time supporter of the agency. The gift, which is part of a larger commitment, will support our Detention Diversion Advocacy Project (DDAP) programs in Dorchester and Hampden County.

A voluntary alternative to court-ordered detention, DDAP strives to reduce the disproportionate number of minority youth arraigned through the court system.

Dignity U Wear Honors Agency

RFK Children's Action Corps was proud to be honored at Dignity U Wear's Annual Fundraiser, held in NYC on October 8th. We were recognized as a partner in their school children initiative, and our Senior Vice-President & COO, Alan Klein, and Director of Admissions & Community Engagement, Yvonne Addo-Piper, spoke on behalf of the agency.

Founded in 2000 by philanthropist and Holocaust survivor Henri Landwirth, Dignity U Wear is a nonprofit that receives in-kind and financial donations from corporate sponsors to provide brand new clothes to over 300 social service agencies across the country at no cost to the recipient. We are truly grateful for their support - the ongoing donations of clothing, shoes, and accessories give the children in our care a sense of pride and confidence and ensure that they will never be without basic necessities.

Thank You!
Long-time agency supporter Coldwell Banker Cares sponsored a Block Party at our Lancaster Campus on August 8th.  The day featured a cookout, DJ, and games, with a special visit from the ice cream truck.  Employees from their Shrewsbury, Lancaster, and Bolton offices came out to enjoy the festivities.  We appreciate their continued support in making it a fun day for everyone!
Thank You!
Boston Consulting Group recently donated 30 bicycles to the children in our programs.  As part of a team-building exercise, BCG first built the bikes themselves, then invited RFK Children's Action Corps students and staff to Boston to present them with the bikes.  The kids, some of whom have never had a brand new bike of their own, were delighted with their bikes and also enjoyed the chartered ride into town - on the same bus that the Bruins take!  Thanks again to BCG for their generous gift!

This summer, the girls in our South Hadley Treatment Program had the opportunity to participate in a mask-making residency, led by The Performance Project of Springfield. The culmination of their hard work and artistry was celebrated at an in-house presentation on July 24th, where the girls displayed their work and participated in a dance performance they had rehearsed. The masks reflected their individual stories and impressed their guests with their beauty and creativity!
