NATIONAL COLORING DAY

It'sNational Coloring Book Day! We will have coloring sheets, markers, and pencils set up all day in the window alcove nearest our Information Desk (you can sign up and grab a log for ourBook a Trip reading programwhile you are over there!). Sit down whenever you happen to be in and relax for a bit.
Our Meeting Rooms A & B will be open all evening from 6:00 - 9:00 for your coloring pleasure. All ages welcome. We'll provide coloring supplies and refreshing cool beverages -- and we encourage you to bring treats to share!

LEARNING SAFARI

Delicious Diversity
We will be reading The Colors of Us by Karen Katz, a book that compares skin colors to yummy foods such as peaches or chocolate cupcakes, then using edible ingredients to finger paint!
Learning Safari is a story time and craft for preschoolers, focused on African and African American history and culture. Marion Public Library and the African American Museum of Iowa partner to bring you this special story time experience.
Play a BINGO-like game using eyes and noses, to create a silly Cubist portrait that Picasso would love!
This summer's Doodlebugs are all inspired by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art's exhibitions which feature a variety of portrait styles, from local artist Diego Lasansky to world-renowned sculptor Auguste Rodin.
Preschoolers will explore a different medium each time, and learn about some famous artists along the way.
