Summer Prize Winners!
We still have some summer prizes that need to be picked up! Grand Prize Winners and the Top 25 Readers can get their prizes at the Information Desk.

Check the list on the manga shelf (where the prize jars were) to see if your name is on the list!

Help Design the New Library!
Here's your chance to let us know what you think the new library--and especially the Teen area!--need to look like. What do you want your new space to do? How should it feel? Cozy? Edgy? Decorated in a Doctor Who theme? (Ok, that probably won't happen, sorry.)

Bring your best and craziest ideas to Meeting Room A on Wednesday, September 2 at 5:15 p.m. for the first public input session with the library's architect. Can't make that one? Mark your calendars for the next meetings on Wednesday, September 30, and Thursday, October 29.

Get more information about the public input session and the building project at marionpubliclibrary.org/inspire.

Anime Club
Monday, September 14, 4 - 5:30 p.m.
Anime Club is on the second Monday this month!

Join us in Meeting Room B to hang out with other people who love anime as we watch shows and eat Japanese snacks.

Anime Club meets the first Monday of each month. Mark your calendars for the next meeting on October 5!
Game Day!
Wednesday, September 16, 3:30 - 5 p.m.
Stop by after school to play video games and board games in Meeting Room A. We've got Mario Kart, Minecraft, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Dance Central, Guitar Hero, Twister, Apples to Apples, and lots more!

Do you play Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering, or another card game? Bring your friends and stake out a corner of the room for an epic game.

Minecraft Monday!
Monday, September 28, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Create with other Minecrafters on the library's server! Choose from:
  • Survival Mode, where you have to build shelter and find food before fending off the monsters;
  • Creative Mode, where you can fly, explore, and build anything you want;
  • The Nether, where you fight monsters and hunt for treasure;
  • Spleef, where your goal is to drop your opponents out of the bottom of the world;
  • Hide and Seek, where you blend into the scenery until the seeker finds you!; and
  • Hunger Games, where you can show off your battle skills and be the last one standing
The library has a limited number of Minecraft accounts and laptops, so sign up soonIf you have your own account or laptop, please let us know when you register. The more computers and accounts we have to work with, the more Minecraft fun for everyone!

All Minecrafters going into first grade through high school are welcome; kids under 9 must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Now is a great time to get a library card!
We've gotten a CHALLENGE from the Marion Public Library in Marion, Indiana, to see who can sign up the most new card users in September! If you don't have your own card, come in and get a library card and help us win! And spread the word!

Once you have a card, each time you come into the library during September you can sign up for our daily drawings to win either a canvas bag or a mug. The registration forms have space only for your library card number -- so make sure your contact information is current in your account so we can reach you if you win!
Take and Make
Did you notice our Take and Make station in the Teen area this summer? It was so popular, we're going to keep it going. When you're bored, look on the table next to the couch for crafts, word games, coloring pages, and more! Make it at the library, or take it home, your choice.

New Iowa Book Awards for the New School Year!

If you need to read a book from the Iowa Teen Award list or the Iowa High School Book Award list, (or just want to read good books for fun), find them on the awards display in the corner of the Teen area next to the magazines. Or look for this year's spine labels (below). Want a taste of this year's lists? Here you go:

Book a Trip:
Year-Round Reading Program

This all-ages reading program couldn't be easier: just pick up a log and start reading. Check off each state as you read a book that either takes place in that state, is about that state, or is by an author who is from that state. You can read fiction or non-fiction. We've got suggested books for each state, or pick out your own!

As you check off each state, get a dot at the Information Desk to mark your progress on our map. When you've read a book from all 50 states, pick up a special prize! Find more information on the Book a Trip page on our website.
