Take a Reading Road Trip This Winter!
Winter Reading ends February 13

Have you had a chance to Book a Trip yet? Whether you have or not, get ready for double the fun this winter! Read books from states around the country to earn prize tickets for the Teen Winter Reading program, and mark them off on your Book a Trip reading log (pdf)!

It's not too late to sign up for the Reading Road Trip Winter Program at marionpubliclibrary.org/teens. Pick up your reading log at the Information Desk and start crossing off bingo squares to get Grand Prize tickets. A blackout gets a free book!

Don't forget: reading logs are due on Friday, February 13! The final party is Saturday, February 14 at 1:30.

And what's Book a Trip? It's an all-ages, year-round reading program, where you read a book for each state--either about that state or by an author from that state--and mark your place on our giant map. When you finish all 50 states you'll get a themed luggage tag--ready for your real-life trips--and a surprise gift card. There's no time limit on Book a Trip, but the Reading Road Trip will give you a good start! Need some ideas? Check out Book a Trip suggestions. And there are plenty of other reading suggestions at our Teen Reads page--or try the links below!

Documentary and Discussion
"Mighty Times: The Children's March"
Tuesday, February 24, 4:30 p.m.

The Children's March tells the story of how the young people of Birmingham, Alabama, braved fire hoses and police dogs in 1963 and brought segregation to its knees. Their heroism complements discussions about the ability of today's young people to be catalysts for positive social change.

In honor of Black History Month, we will be viewing the 40-minute edition of this Academy Award-winning documentary film followed by a discussion facilitated by a guest from the African American Museum. We encourage people of all ages and ethnicities to attend this special event.
