We made room on the shelves for more manga! We've got new titles (below), plus more Fairy Tail and One Piece

What other titles should we get? Put your suggestions in the box on the manga shelf, or email Cressant.

Teen Read Week:
Vote for the Teens' Top Ten!

Teen Read Week is October 12 - 18

This year's Teen Read Week theme is Turn Dreams Into Reality. Let us know what your dreams are by writing them on our Dream Wall!

And don't forget to vote for the national Teens' Top Ten list before October 11! Vote at YALSA's Reads4Teens website. Find the nominated books on the display in the Teen area, or reserve them from the Teens' Top Ten list at the library's Teen Reads website.
Anime Clubanime
Monday, October 6, 4 - 5:30 p.m.

Join us every month in Meeting Room A to hang out with other people who love anime as we watch shows and eat Japanese snacks. If you have your own anime-style or manga artwork, bring it to show off!

Anime Club meets the first Monday of each month throughout the year. Mark your calendars for the next meeting on November 3!

Celebrate Writing
Saturday, October 18, 9 - 1:30 p.m.

If you're obsessed with writing, stop in for a day of great panel discussions with successful local writers, a book signing with mystery writer Ed Gorman, lunch with the authors, and a special writing workshop in the afternoon. With the exception of lunch ($5.00), everything is FREE!

Register early, especially to reserve your space at the lunch table and for the afternoon workshop. Details and registration links available on the library's website.

Marion RePurpose Club
Tuesday, October 21, 6 - 8 p.m.

The Marion RePurpose Club meets monthly on the third Tuesday.

This month we'll be creating Halloween signs from pallet wood!

This fun intergenerational crafting and repurposing evening is offered by Habitat for Humanity's ReStore staff. Yvette and Deb bring their fun and creativity to the Marion Library, along with all the stuff you need to repurpose leftovers, bits, and pieces into cool and unique things that you can really use.

Because of our space constraints, and to help Deb and Yvette know how many supplies to bring, registration is required.

There is a small materials fee ($5/adult, $3/under 16) which may be paid at the program.

Book a Trip Across America:
All Ages Reading Program

Book a Trip with us at the library! This year-round reading program couldn't be easier: pick up a reading log with a map, and all you have to do is read books. Check off each state as you read a book that either takes place in that state, is about that state, or is by an author who is from that state. Read fiction or non-fiction. We have lists of suggested titles for kids, teens, and adults, but you can pick your own titles, too!

We have a huge map of the United States here at the library, and when you check off a state on your reading log, you can come in and get a colored dot from one of our friendly staff, then go put it on the state you've just finished! We can all have fun watching as Marion Library readers read their way across the USA!
