We hope you have been enjoying the Master Gardeners' programs at the Hiawatha Library throughout February. Spring fun and planning continues at the Marion Library with our Wednesday evening series. Join us on March 5 for "WOW - That Looks Amazing!;" on March 12 for "Earth-Friendly Lawn Care;" on March 19 for "Hybrid Lilies," and on March 26 for "New Perennials for 2014." All programs are free and open to anyone. Program: From Tawdry to Tireless - 

a series

Time: 6:30 p.m.

A fantastic collaborative programming series offered by the Marion Public Library, the Hiawatha Public Library, the Granger House Museum, and the African American Museum; great programs at each location every Friday evening throughout March, including: 

  • "Straight-Laced Girls, Uptight Ladies, & Loose Women," on March 7 at the Hiawatha Library; 
  • "Our Sisters' Many Hats," on March 14 at the Marion Library; 
  • "The Help - The History of African American Women in Domestic Service," on March 21 at the Granger House Museum; and 
  • "Good Women & Bad Girls," on March 28 at the African American Museum.

Community Reading Program Underway

 

Program: Linn Area Reads 2014

Dates: Various

Linn Area Reads is our area's premier community reading program, now in its 11th year. The 2014 title is Running Away to Home, by Jennifer Wilson. Join us for programming throughout March, including book discussions at Barnes & Noble, a Family Legacy Program presented by Linda Schmidt at the Hiawatha Public Library, an Heirloom Recipe Swap at the Marion Public Library, and an author visit and program in the beautiful auditorium at the downtown Cedar Rapids Public Library. Need help downloading library books to your eReader? Come to our free help sessions; bring your eReader device (and cords) and your questions - we'll do our best to get you up and reading! Program: Small Business Series

Date: Thursdays, March 6 and 20

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Professionals from SCORE continue their popular series of workshops for entrepreneurs this month. On March 6, come for "An Exit Plan for Your Business;" March 20 will be "Sizing Your Market for Success." Each session begins with a brief lecture and is followed by engaging Q&A and discussion. There is no charge for workshops in this series.
