Come to Our Meeting to Learn More

On Wednesday, October 30 at 5:00 p.m., the Marion Public Library is hosting an informational meeting about the proposed library levy increase on the November ballot. Library Director Doug Raber will discuss the purpose of the levy, the library's needs, and answer questions. For those of you who could not attend the first meeting, this is another opportunity to learn about Marion's growth and how that's affected the Library, and how the new revenue will be used. More information is available at the  library's website. We encourage you to become an informed voter and attend this interactive program.  

Renewing the Local Option Sales Tax 

A proposal to renew the Local Option Sales Tax is also on the ballot this fall. 70% of the revenue to be raised will be spent on street and sanitary and storm sewer improvements, and 30% will be spent on essential or general corporate purposes. The City's draft spending plan includes funding for the library renovation and expansion. You can learn more about current local option sales tax funded projects, this year's ballot language and the spending plan at informational meetings sponsored by the City:
