Coffeehouse Fiction A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams
Our next Coffeehouse Fiction meeting will be Tuesday, September 17 at 4 pm. The Library partners with Wit's End Coffeehouse, and meets at the coffeehouse (630 10th St), just across from the library and Marion Square Park.
A limited number of copies of this summer's hot title, A Hundred Summers are available for those interested in joining us for the discussion. Contact the Information Desk beginning August 1 and we'll reserve copies on a first come first served basis - then pick up your copy anytime after August 15. Can't wait that long? Get a jump-start on your reading by checking our catalog for individual copies or picking up a copy from your favorite local bookseller.
The library springs for a round of treats at Wit's End; beverages are available to purchase. Out of respect for the proprietor, please do not bring in your own food or drinks. Cathy's shop is a fun, casual, and comfy place to talk books! We hope you'll join us for this great discussion group.
Our October 15 book will be announced at the September
meeting...or call the Information Desk after September 17 to find out our next great read!

The Cedar Valley Road - presented by Author Linda McCann
McCann, the author of several local history books including The Cedar Valley Road, will join us Tuesday, August 13 at 7:30pm. The Waterloo, Cedar Falls, & Northern Railway operated for over 50 years and impacted many lives during its existence. Even now, people can recall "their car," or talk about riding the "trolley" to college. Farmers rode the Northern Iowa to town to sell their produce and factories in Waterloo shipped by the Cedar Valley Road. Come listen to McCann share this fascinating history. She'll have books available to purchase as well. Visit The Iowan to buy your copy in advance.

 Beach Reads
What makes a book a Beach Read, anyway? Is it light-weight or light reading? Does it require little concentration or is it so engrossing you can't put it down? Tell us your favorite Beach Read of the Summer by filling out a drawing slip at the book display near the Information Desk . The winner will receive a $10 gift certificate from Wit's End - then treat yourself and a book buddy to cold smoothies and talk over your favorite reads of the Summer! Haven't had time to enjoy a Beach Read yet? No worries! There's still plenty of Summer left - grab a book from our display, enter the drawing, and get lost in a good book -
drawing on Tuesday, September 3.
