Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
30 minutes of stories, music, and activities including crafts, games, or animated storybooks.

Thursdays, May 11 and 25, 3-5 p.m.
Do you love Legos? Who doesn't? Now twice the fun with two Lego Clubs per month, on the second and fourth Thursdays.

Hy-Vee Spring Party: Enchantment Under the Sea!

We're teaming up with Marion Hy-Vee this spring to spread the word about the great things we have brewing here at MPL!
Hy-Vee will be collecting new and gently-used board books and picture books for
us to give away as prizes for the Summer Reading Program. We will also have short surveys for you to give feedback--we want to hear what you'd like the library to do for you! Our library director, Doug Raber, along with some members of our Library Expansion Committee will be at the story times to ask what YOU want from a renovated library! Miss Lara and Miss Olivia will be doing all of our story times at Hy-Vee that week with this schedule:

Reading Assistance Dogs: Special Guest Tony Nevett!

Tony Nevett will be appearing with Princess Stella and Jesse Junior. Both are Corridor Therapy Dogs and are characters in Tony's new book about his famous reading dog from the UK, Danny. There will be a couple of other dogs in attendance too, so it will be fun! Listen to Tony read from the book then read to the dogs yourself! There will be a raffle for a door prize as well.

Doodlebugs: Frederick
 Tuesday, May 28 10:45 a.m. Marion Public Library teams up with the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art to bring you Doodlebugs! The Summer semester celebrates Caldecott winners and honorees, like Brian Selznick, who is featured in the new exhibition, From Houdini to Hugo. The Caldecott Medal is awarded to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book of the year.
In Frederick by Leo Lionni, a mouse collects colors. We'll start our own color collection with a color-hunting game!

Breakthrough Thursdays!
Every Thursday at 1:30 June 1-July 27
Learn about our amazing world including your own body
through hands-on science. Special guests from the Science Center of Iowa and Mad Science of Iowa will show us what's neat beneath our feet. And the ISU Extension will join us to share things like whether we taste with our mouths or our noses, whose hair is the strongest, which body parts have more nerve endings. We'll write all our scientific findings in a journal to take home. It's a great place to make new friends and play fun games too!
Beat the Heat Summer Movies and Games!
Every Wednesday at 1:30 June 1-July 27
Come munch free popcorn in our air-conditioned meeting room and play some video games or take in a flick. Sometimes we'll even have a craft that relates to the movie for you to work on while you watch!
