Story Time Schedule

This is our NEW Story Time schedule. We hope it will make it easier for more kiddoes to make it to the library!

 

Toddler Time (18 months - 3 years)

Tuesdays & Fridays at 10 a.m.

20 minutes of easy books, rhymes, songs, and fun! Every week is a different theme with all new stories and activities.

 

Preschool Story Time(3 - 5 years)

Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 10:45 a.m.

30 minutes of themed books, rhymes, songs, and fun! Each week includes activities to work out your wiggles and stories to laugh and giggle about.

 

February Themes for Toddler Time and Preschool Story Time:

12-15 Lovey Stuff

19-22 Home Sweet Home

26-March 1 Dance and Music Party

26 at 10:45 a.m. Doodlebugs (Monster Blobs)

 

Baby Time!

(Infant - 18 months) Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

Lots of songs, rhymes, bounces, short books, and fun! 15 minutes of structured time followed by a time for the babies to play and grownups to chat.  Older siblings are welcomed if they can sit still.

  

Family Story Time (All Ages)

Mondays at 6:30 p.m.

Family Story Time is an engaging 30 minutes for all ages--grandparents, teens, little ones, and everyone in between! We have stories, songs, and rhymes, and sometimes crafts, games, or short animated storybooks.  Be ready for some surprises!

Reading Wonderland!
There's still a little time to sign up your Newborns-Age 3, and Age 3-5th Graders for our Winter Reading Program!  You can sign up and print your logs online or you can come in and we'll get you registered at the Children's Desk.  Children earn small incentives for snuggling up and reading this winter, and they also get a chance to win one of our Grand Prizes!  All logs must be turned in by February 15th.

 

Reading Wonderland Events:

Join us every Thursday from 3:00-5:00 for a fun event inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland! And make sure to come to our final Grand Prize Drawing and Magic Show with Rick Eugene on Saturday, February 23rd.  There will be a magic workshop afterwards for those of you who want to learn how he does his tricks! (registration required for workshop.)

 

Craft: Queen of Hearts Cardmaking 

February 7th at 3:00 p.m.

The Queen of Hearts may not be very loving with her affection for beheading,  but you can make a sweet card for someone special!

 

Movie: Alice in Wonderland

Thursday, February 14th at 3:00 p.m.

See the story brought to life in Disney's classic animated

version of Lewis Carroll's story.

 

Grand Prize Drawings, Magic Show and Magic Workshop

Saturday, February 23rd at 1:00 p.m.

Come be amazed by magician Rick Eugene, find out if you won a prize.  Then at 2:30 p.m. Magic Workshop: Stay after the show to learn how  to do some of the tricks you saw! (Registration required for workshop--come to the children's desk and get signed up!)

Are you ready for Playtime Poppy's next show?! Linn-Mar HS will present "Disney's Mulan Jr." February 28-March 2. But first, come see the cast perform a scene from the play, do a craft, and have a snack here at Marion Public Library! We hope to see you!

 
Children Reading to Dogs 
Tuesday, February 12th 6:00-7:30 p.m.

 

The Corridor Therapy Dogs  provide furry friends each month who are good listeners for kids to read to. 

Any child is welcome to come and read to them! 

Lego Club
Thursday, February 28th 
3:00-5:00 p.m.

 

Do you have a LEGO enthusiast in your family? Check out our new club!  We will have the blocks for you to go crazy with your creations!  You don't need to bring anything except your ideas!

Marion Public Library has teamed up with the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art to introduce new preschool classes for your budding artist!
February we will be making monster blobs! Fun!

 

Family Movies-Sundays at 2:15 p.m.
Tales of the Night Poster
Marion Public Library shows family movies in our Meeting Room A starting at

2:15 on Sunday afternoons.  Families are welcome to bring their own snacks.  Children under the age of nine must be supervised by an adult while in the library.  Please come with your family and enjoy the show!
