Business Walk Gathers First-hand Feedback from Local Business
Earlier this month, representatives from the EGEDC, City of Elk Grove, and Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce conducted a door-to-door survey of local businesses during this year's Business Walk. More than 200 business owners were contacted and asked about their experience doing business in Elk Grove, giving them an opportunity to interact with the business and civic leaders in the area and have business issues addressed. The city's smooth permit processing and Elk Grove as the ideal place to work and live were among the positive face-to-face feedback.

"We heard a lot of positive feedback this year," said EGEDC Executive Director, Angela Perry. "Elk Grove business owners are feeling more and more confident about the economy turning around. I personally spoke with many business owners looking to expand their business in Elk Grove."

Laguna Gateway Shopping Center merchants noted that business growth has been exceptionally active since Leatherby's Family Creamery--a Sacramento-area long-time favorite--opened a location there last June.

Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce coordinated the event. The EGEDC, City and Chamber will conduct information and business contact follow-up. The EGEDC will reach out to those businesses looking to expand and offer whatever assistance is needed to retain and improve their prospects of business success in Elk Grove.

"The Fresh Market" Expands to Elk Grove
The Fresh Market logoThe Fresh Market, a 30-year old North Carolina-based high-growth specialty grocery retailer, continues to grow its chain of stores with two new California locations in the Sacramento area. One of the new stores will be located in the Laguna Crossroads Shopping Center in Elk Grove, and the other will be located in Sacramento.

The stores, both expected to open in the fall, will be the company's second and third locations in the Sacramento market. The company launched its west coast expansion in the Sacramento region last year with the opening of a store in nearby Roseville.

"We are excited about our continued expansion in California, and in the greater Sacramento area in particular," said Randy Kelley, Senior Vice President of real estate and development for The Fresh Market. "We look forward to providing customers in the Elk Grove community with the same quality products and excellent customer service that our shoppers experience in other markets."

Founded in 1982, The Fresh Market, Inc. is a specialty grocery retailer focused on providing high-quality products in a unique and inviting atmosphere with a high level of customer service. The company currently operates 129 stores in 25 states, primarily located in the Southeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and West Coast, with plans for continued expansion throughout the country including several California sites currently in development in Palo Alto, Santa Barbara and Laguna Hills. Elk Grove Slashes Homebuilder Fees
