The sun shines brightly on 6302 Crossings Blvd., Monroe, Ohio!!!
PAWS Capital Campaign
With Your Help Anything is PAWSible
Hello, Everyone!
I'm Juli Nimitz, volunteer Director for PAWS Capital Campaign for the new shelter under construction at 6302 Crossings in Monroe, Ohio. My husband, Mark Ott, and I have been volunteers / supporters of PAWS for over 20 years. We've been associated with PAWS for so long that we can remember when the cats and kittens were housed in a run-down trailer. We also remember the very first PAWS luncheon auction to benefit our furry friends.
Some people have told me I must be crazy to take on a role this big, particularly when I have no fundraising experience. The short answer to that is these animals deserve loving, forever homes, and I'm willing to give my time to make sure we are able serve them and the families who adopt them. Did you know that PAWS has successfully found forever homes for over 10,000 canine and feline friends? With our new facility we will be even better equipped to serve the animals and the community.
Behind all the adoption numbers are the individuals and families who have brought these animals into their homes and hearts. We receive letters and emails all the time from these adopters, all saying how much happiness these pets have brought to them. Many go on to say that the animals have given them way more than they have ever given to their new, adopted friend.
I know that's how my husband and I feel. We currently have four cats, two of which came from PAWS. The other two we rescued ourselves. It is difficult to accurately describe how much love and laughter these pets have brought to our lives. We feel they not only add to our emotional health, they have added to our physical health. Many, many studies have confirmed how pets, and happiness, lead to a stronger immune system.
Because of this, we have decided to sponsor one of the Cat Rooms as part of this Capital Campaign. The truth is we had a long discussion prior to our commitment. We had been setting aside funds to buy my husband a new car - he currently drives a 1992 Camry. That's really old!! And ugly, too!!! It's the joke of all our friends and understandably so. Still, we decided to divert those funds to the Capital Campaign because, frankly, we get more enjoyment from our animals than we do a car. Who can put a price tag on love?
Won't you join us in spreading the love? In giving these animals a chance to spread love to their future owners?
There are several ways to help. PAWS is seeking sponsorship at various levels for the Picnic Pavilion, Cat and Dog Wellness Rooms, Dog Exercise Areas, Cat Rooms, Small Dog Room, and Kennels. These are available at sponsorship levels ranging from $10,000 --$50, 000 and give naming rights to the individual or company that sponsors them. We also have Wall of Fame plaques available at the $1000 - $5000 support level.
I personally can be reached at (513) 675-3404 for anyone who would like to discuss the various sponsorships.
Checks can be mailed to:
PAWS Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 684, Middletown, Ohio 45042
Online donations can be made through Network for Good at www.pawsadoptioncenter.org/donate
We are a private, non-profit 501-C3 organization and all donations are tax deductible. PAWS is 100% dependent on donations. Your support in any amount is greatly appreciated.
REMEMBER -- With Your Help Anything is PAWSible!!!

Completion of the new PAWS shelter is anticipated in July 2014!

Need unique items
We are also in the process of collecting auction donations from local businesses and wonderful PAWS supporters. Do you or any family members or friends have connections to a unique experience/item that would make a great addition to the auction? Some examples are:
- Studio & Design: This category includes any valuable piece of artwork or other design piece. It will often include paintings, lithographs, pottery and handmade jewelry.
- Food & Drink: Almost anything associated with food and eating can go in this category. It will often consist primarily of gift certificates to restaurants, but can also include wine, bar accessories, barbecue accessories and cooking utensils.
- Getaways: Always a hot ticket item, this includes vacation rentals, transportation and activities at the getaway location.
- Sports & Leisure: This is an encompassing category. It includes everything from tickets to sporting events to gym memberships.
-
Services: This is a popular category, often has many items, such as:
- Professional Services
- Beauty and Relaxation
- Home Services
- Pet Services
- Kid's Stuff: "Fur the Love of PAWS" Auction takes place right before Christmas -- a great opportunity to donate children's gifts!
- Treasures: This category encompasses the widest variety of items. It includes gadgets such as DVD players and cameras, clothing and accessories such as scarves and purses, special items for the home and garden such as rugs and small appliances, and other unique individual items that are sure to become someone's treasure.
- Staff Offerings: Families love to buy items created or services provided by the people with whom their children spend many of their days. Special lessons or activities given by a staff member can create a wonderful, memorable gift for a child.
- Wines: Many people will look for special, unique or rare vintages of wine at an auction. It's the opportunity for them to try something new or find an old favorite.
- Baskets: There are so many great ideas for baskets at an auction and people love to buy them. Creative, unique baskets sell the best. People will buy them to pick up a collection of items they've been wanting to try - such as a Bath Basket - or as a gift for someone special - such as a Tea & Reading Basket for a friend.
- Entertainment: This includes everything to enjoy a night out on the town - movie tickets, concerts, the ballet and the opera. This category also can have items related to entertainment memorabilia, such as autographed photographs, promotional items and other collectibles.
If you or your business would like to donate auction items -- whether traditional or unusual such as some of the ones suggested above, please let us know.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness!!!
If you have any further questions, please contact Auction Co-Chairs Megan Butcher at 513-435-1028 or Nikki Edens at nicke1122@aol.com.
