I would like to thank each of our Board Members for volunteering and dedicating their time to serve the Inspectors of Texas. You may notice that some of the Board Members are serving in more than one position and some of the Board Members have served on previous boards, we appreciate the dedication and commitments of these members; it takes volunteers to fill the positions, no one has ever been turned down to serve. If you would like to serve on the TPREIA board or a TPREIA Committee, please let me know. This is your Association and we need you.
TPREIA is the largest Association in Texas. TPREIA is not just an Association, it is a family of Inspectors. In early 2008 when TPREIA was established, our goal was to be a membership driven Association, to advance the Texas Real Estate Inspection industry; to recognize and promote Real Estate Inspections as a distinct profession; to provide leadership through education and to maintain ethical and technical standards; to enhance consumer protection and promote public awareness of the industry and the Association; to exceed expectations. We have succeeded in our goals. Politics and the "Good Old Boy Club" attitude will not be accepted; TPREIA is about honoring and respecting every Inspector's voice.
TPREIA continue to grow; I am excited to announce that a new TPREIA Chapter is now in operation in the Greater Austin Area. The TPREIA Greater Austin Chapter had its first meeting on January 21, 2014. This meeting was well attended and there was a lot of enthusiasm about the Chapter. East Texas, consisting of Longview, Tyler and surrounding areas are in the early stages of forming a Chapter. We are also working with members in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and the San Antonio area to form Chapters in these areas this year. Join the excitement and get involved in your local area. Contact Mike Cothran, our VP of Membership and let him know you are willing to help.
We are seeing many changes from TREC regarding Inspectors this year. We will continue to update you on these changes as they occur. Be sure and check your emails from TPREIA and InterNACHI, the TPREIA Facebook page and the InterNACHI blog under Texas/TPREIA section. If you have not participated in the social networking area, sign up today and keep informed.
Two important dates are Monday, February 3rd, The Inspector's Advisory Committee (IAC) will be meeting and February 10th, the Texas Real Estate Commission will have a meeting; whatever occurs during the IAC meeting may be sent to the Commissioners meeting to be voted on February 10th. Everyone is highly encouraged to attend. Show the TREC and the IAC that you do care about the inspection industry. Attend these meetings and be involved. You will be glad that you did.
Hope to see you in Austin on February 3rd.
Regards,
Bruce Carpenter
