SAGUARO ROBOTICS TEAM WINS REGIONAL COMPETITION
Congratulations to Saguaro's Robotics team for winning the regional competition!   Coached by Chris Brandt, the team is headed to the national competition in St. Louis April 22nd.  Way to go, Cats!
 
SAGUARO SCIENCE DEPARTMENT CHAIR WINS
OUTSTANDING SCIENCE TEACHER AWARD
Congratulations to Saguaro's Christopher C. Brandt, who recently won this year's Outstanding Science Teacher Award from the Arizona Nevada Academy of Science.  In addition to chairing Saguaro's Science Department, Mr. Brandt is the Scottsdale Math and Science Academy Coordinator, Saguaro FIRST Robotics Coach/VEX Robotics Coach, Science Olympiad Coach, Chemistry Instructor and Science Safety Speclalist, and Saguaro Boy's Golf Coach/Golf Club Sponsor.   
 
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SENIORS WHO WILL BE ATTENDING SCOTTSDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN THE FALL OF 2015
Drop by the Guidance Office today to pick up great information about scholarships for SCC and other Maricopa Community Colleges!  The deadlines for some scholarships are fast approaching at the end of this week (March 22) and some deadlines fall in April, but do not delay.  If you attended the SCC Open House Field Trip for Seniors on Feb. 20th, this information was available, but extra copies are in the Guidance Office NOW or go to www.scottsdalecc.edu/admissions/financial-aid-scholarships.
 
IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION FOR SENIORS ATTENDING SCOTTSDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE FALL 2015
To enroll and select classes at SCC, seniors must first set up a Student Account and complete the Online Admissions Process.  Please stop by the Saguaro Guidance Office to pick up the PINK instruction sheet for completing this process.  Once this step is complete, you can sign up in the Guidance Office to take the Placement Test that will be given on the Saguaro campus on Tuesday, April 14th from 12 noon to 3 pm in the computer lab in Room 210 by the Library.

The SCC Help Session scheduled for Tuesday, March 31st has been moved to Monday, March 30th at the same place and time: Computer Lab in Room 210 from 11 AM to 12:30 PM.   This has been scheduled to help seniors who plan to attend SCC in the fall to set up their Student Account and complete the Admissions process.  Seniors do not need an appointment, so stop by at the end of 4th period or during Lunch.  This has been rescheduled due to state testing on 3/31.  Please see your counselor if you have questions.

JAZZ AND CHOCOLATE 2015
April 9, 6:30 pm and April 10, 7:00 pm
Mark your calendars for our Jazz and Chocolate event, which is so popular that we have expanded to two nights!  Enjoy fabulous jazz music, delicious chocolate desserts, raffle, silent auction, and special guests.  Stage tickets are a donation of $12 each.  Seating is limited; reserve with our Booster Mom, Pam Kelly:  pam.kelly@cox.net

SPRING DANCE CONCERT

CPR CERTIFICATION CLASS
April 2, 2:30-5:30 pm, Room 211 pm
Offered to all students/staff at Saguaro High School 
Cost:  $25 for staff, $35 for students 
AHA certification class for students who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine, summer jobs (nanny/lifeguard/camp counselor) or just want to learn a life saving skill.  Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, stroke, sudden cardiac arrest; how to perform CPR on adults/children/infants; how to use an AED; relief of choking and basic first aid (including allergies/Epi pens; asthma; seizures and diabetes.)  You will receive a card issued by the American Heart Assoc. which is valid for 2 years and learn how to save a life.

Participating employers are based in Scottsdale and the surrounding areas of Phoenix and Tempe. Most employers will require applicants to be 16 or older, but teens under 16 are still welcome and encouraged to attend. HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE ALSO STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.

Teens and young adults will benefit from our interactive educational exhibits, all designed to empower teens/young adults with job seeking strategies. The educational areas will include laptop computers staffed by volunteers. Participants can get assistance completing online applications and writing a professional resume. Professionals will also be available to provide mock interviews. "Dress to Impress" consultation available.

PROJECT GRADUATION REMINDERS

Register and Pay Your Fee!
All graduating seniors are welcome and encouraged to attend Project Grad, a huge drug- and alcohol-free party immediately following the graduation ceremony. All students must be registered with parent permission.  In addition, all students are asked to pay the $100 donation fee (the party costs much more than the $100-per-student fee).  If you cannot pay the fee and would like to be considered for scholarship donation, please contact Cheryl White at rclbwhite@cox.net.

Gift Cards and Boxers Needed For Project Grad

Every year, Project Grad hosts a party for all graduating seniors right after the graduation ceremony. One of the most popular activities each year is Boxer Bingo.  Boxer donations are needed (new, please) - and we are looking for all sizes, all styles, goofy and fun styles welcome (yes, the Superman boxers with cape are popular!)  There is a donation box in the Saguaro office - feel free to leave your boxer donation in the box.  We also need gift cards for anything teenagers might enjoy.  THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING PROJECT GRAD!
