SAGUARO MATH LAB
Begins Monday, March 17th

Seth Moylan of Z-Ultimate Martial Arts is offering a Ladies Self Defense Seminar to ALL Saguaro High School females.  This 5-week seminar will be held on Saturdays: March 22,29, April 5,12, and 26 from 2:00-4:30. The class is limited to 30.  RSVP to Z-Ultimate Karate at 480.922.7221 (In the Pavillions at Indian Bend and Pima between Burlington Coat Factory and Toys R Us). Cost is $200.  A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Saguaro SaberLinks PTO.

Grade 9
Now that you have 3rd quarter grades, plan for improvement.  Ask teachers, counselor or College and Career Center staff for suggestions if your study improvement plan has not yielded results. Sign up for summer activities and enrichment programs through school, church, College and Career Center or at www.enrichmentalley.com.  Find volunteer opportunities at www.volunteerphoenix.org or www.volunteermatch.org.

Grade 10
Plan to enroll in enrichment activities or college credit course work for summer.  Check for opportunities in the College and Career Center or at www.enrichmentalley.com.  Sign up for SAT subject exams if appropriate.  You should take subject exams as close as possible to the course work with which they are associated - this requires looking ahead to determine that the college, or caliber of college, to which you aspire requires or recommends these tests.  You may have options to submit both SAT and ACT, but it is best to keep all opportunities available.
 
Grade 11
Review results from SAT and/or ACT tests taken.  Use merit aid estimators with your scores and GPA to assess competitiveness at various schools.  Some schools that offer an online scholarship calculator are ASU, NAU, Baylor University and University of Alabama.  Attend information sessions for military academies if appropriate.  Visit colleges while they are in session.  Spring Break of Junior year may be one of your last visit opportunities before you write your applications.

Grade 12
You will begin receiving financial aid letters.  Compare offers carefully.  Now that you have financial offers in writing, reassess your college plans and project the debt you and your parents will incur at each school.  Will your chosen career path support your planned borrowing?  Understand the terms of each offer and how much you and your parents are being asked to contribute, either through savings or loans.

Saguaro students wishing to participate in athletics must complete the Saguaro High School Athletic Packet and return it to Saguaro prior to tryouts.  This packet includes consent forms and athletic physical form.  Please note that you must include a copy of the student's birth certificate and proof of health insurance coverage.
