Dear Friends,

Merry Christmas from the families of the 2:8 House!

We thought you would enjoy seeing pictures of the three families who live at the 2:8 House. You may know that the house includes a living area on the main floor and two, two-bedroom apartments on the second floor. So, the house is home to the Kyncls, the Pearsons and the Shepperds. We have heard many times how students become one of the family here. These three families help make that happen.

We also understand the process and importance of higher education. The six adults in the house have completed a total of 12 degrees from several different universities. Bachelor's degrees were received from: Evangel University, Northwest Nazarene University, Olivet Nazarene University, Southern Nazarene University (2), and the University of Kansas. Masters degrees were received from: Nazarene Theological Seminary, Pittsburg State University (2), and the University of Oklahoma (2). One doctorate was received from OU with another doctorate in process.

God is at work! On behalf of the students, staff and friends of the 2:8 House we thank you for your continued, prayerful partnership with us.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Special events held at the house
Students involved in the Fellowship of Christian Grads student organization held their Christmas party at the 2:8 House. Students shared a pot-luck dinner and white elephant gifts and spent some time playing games as a way to celebrate the end of the semester and the Christmas holiday.

Several campus ministers also attended a special luncheon at the house during finals week. The Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and the Director of the OU Counseling Center shared a lunch with the campus ministers and discussed resources available to OU students who are working through a personal crisis. The luncheon strengthened the link between OU and the various ministry groups.
Year-end giving opportunities
As you may know, the 2:8 House exists because of the generous support of several individuals, Nazarene churches and districts.

As of today, the 2:8 House has received $76,340 this year, which represents 85 percent of the budgeted income. We spent $78,870, which represents 90 percent of the budgeted expenses. You may review our year-to-date budget in detail by clicking here.

You can make a tax-deductible, year-end gift online or by mailing a donation to the 2:8 House, P.O. Box 3211, Norman, OK 73070.

Thank you for your continued support.
fallen limb Chain saw required
A large limb fell following an ice storm this past weekend. Thankfully, the limb fell blocking the back drive way when the driveway was empty. On a usual day there are at least a few cars parked here. The limb just brushed against the house and air conditioning unit as it fell.

2:8 House Statement of Mission
The mission of the 2:8 House is to serve and build relationships with the University of Oklahoma community, its students, faculty, and staff, in the following manners:
  • Making the person and work of Jesus Christ known, including proclaiming, by word, and demonstrating, by deed, the reality and love of God;
  • Acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God;
  • Supporting the ministry of the local church; and
  • Making Christ-like disciples of those in the nations.
Deuteronomy 32:1-2 (The Message)
Listen, Heavens, I have something to tell you.
Attention, Earth, I've got a mouth full of words.
My teaching, let it fall like a gentle rain, my words arrive like morning dew,
like a sprinkling rain on new grass, like spring showers on the garden.
For it's God's Name I'm preaching--
respond to the greatness of our God!
