Every time your name comes up in my prayers, I say, "Oh, thank you, God!" I keep hearing of the love and faith you have for the Master Jesus, which brims over to other believers. And I keep praying that this faith we hold in common keeps showing up in the good things we do, and that people recognize Christ in all of it. Friend, you have no idea how good your love makes me feel, doubly so when I see your hospitality to fellow believers.  Philemon 4-7, The Message

Dear Friends,

We want to take this opportunity to say, "Thank You."

You receive this monthly email because you have indicated a willingness to support this ministry. Many of you pray for us on a regular basis. Others provide funding with monthly or periodic gifts. Some responded to our request for help with landscaping, video production, website design and hosting, and child care.

We encourage you to take a few minutes in prayer and thanksgiving as you see the specific ways you have been a part of the 2:8 House.

God is at work! On behalf of the students, staff and friends of the 2:8 House we thank you for your continued, prayerful partnership with us.

LOVE IS.

Dave, Rhonda, Mary and Jonathan Kyncl
Craig, Anita and Jude Shepperd

Thank you from Anita...

Thank you to Stephanie Lawler and Mary Kyncl.  They give a vital and sacrificial contribution to this ministry by caring for my most valuable gift, my son Jude.  Every week they have selflessly provided care for Jude so that I can give my time to working for the 2:8 House.  Without this loving act I wouldn't be able to devote my attention to connecting with students and taking care of details that need to be done for our day-to-day ministry.  Also, thank you to and "Nanna" aka. Carolyn Dean.  She has also so graciously loved Jude and opened her home so that we can continue to meet with our students.  It truly does take a village!
THANK YOU.

Each week we hold meetings that highly impact the lives of our students.  At this meeting, we have a time of worship.  It has become my most meaningful time of connection to God through music.  Bekah has done an amazing job at leading us in worship each week.  Catie and Wes have also been very dedicated musicians as well.  Their gifts have been "instrumental" in transforming lives.
THANK YOU.

David Kyncl

Year-end giving goals established
As we share a few stories about how God has been at work, we work to continue to expand our prayer and financial support team. We have included more specific financial information at this link.

"God continues to provide for the financial needs of this ministry through the generous support of individuals, Nazarene churches and districts," David Kyncl said. "Many of our donors have supported this ministry for years."

"It is important our friends realize that we are raising ministry team members while we are raising financial support," Kyncl said. "We encourage our friends to follow God's leadership as they participate."

This partnership is discussed in the following quote from Henri Nowen's "A Spirituality of Fundraising, pp 24-25:

"Fundraising is a very concrete way to help the kingdom of God come about...Even a seemingly small act of generosity can grow into something far beyond what we could ever ask or imagine: the creation of a community of love in this world and beyond this world; because wherever love grows, it is stronger than death. So when we give ourselves to planting and nurturing love here on earth, our efforts will reach out beyond our own chronological existence. Indeed, if we raise funds for the creation of a community of love, we are helping God build the kingdom. We are doing exactly what we are supposed to do as Christians."
Prayer requested for various activities
Fat Tuesday
Our final Fat Tuesday lunch will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd, from 11:30 to 2 p.m. We will be connecting with students just before finals begin the next week.

Finals Week
Many of you will remember your experience during finals week each semester. This semester finals will be held the week of Dec. 9-13.

Campus Ministry luncheon
We are hosting a special networking luncheon with several campus ministers and members of OU Student Affairs staff. Several ministers are new to OU this semester, and they expressed a desire to learn about resources on campus for students who are in crisis.

2:8 House Statement of Mission
The mission of the 2:8 House is to serve and build relationships with the University of Oklahoma community, its students, faculty, and staff, in the following manners:
  • Making the person and work of Jesus Christ known, including proclaiming, by word, and demonstrating, by deed, the reality and love of God;
  • Acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God;
  • Supporting the ministry of the local church; and
  • Making Christ-like disciples of those in the nations.
Deuteronomy 32:1-2 (The Message)
Listen, Heavens, I have something to tell you.
Attention, Earth, I've got a mouth full of words.
My teaching, let it fall like a gentle rain, my words arrive like morning dew,
like a sprinkling rain on new grass, like spring showers on the garden.
For it's God's Name I'm preaching--
respond to the greatness of our God!
