Dear Friends,
As I write this opening comment, the words of Andre' Crouch's "To God be the Glory" are on my heart:
How can I say thanks, for the things you have done for me
Things, so undeserved, yet you give to prove your love for me.
The voices of a thousand angels, cannot express my gratitude.
All that I am, and ever hope to be, I owe it all to Thee.
To God be the Glory, To God be the Glory, To God be the Glory for the things He as done.
That gratitude spills out as I think of you. Many of you have been praying for my family and the Shepperd family for years. Some of you were praying for this ministry before either of our families called the 2:8 House home.
Because of God working through you, we are able to invest into the lives of others on the OU campus.
Thank you.

Shepperds to lead SNU students to Kosovo
By Anita Shepperd
Mission. What a controversial word today! We are confronted daily with idea straight from Jesus. You can actually get a degree on the what, why, when, how and where to do mission.
For The Shepperd family it's been a question of obedience. Simple. God asks...we ask...WHAT? Then we say yes.
This lifestyle has given us several years overseas in Croatia and Kosovo. Then the Lord led us to Norman and the 2:8 House where we are still saying yes to mission, building relationships, working with university students at OU and living in community.
Recently, through our alma mater, Southern Nazarene University, we have received an opportunity to return to Kosovo for a few weeks this summer. We will be part of a team that will be going to a village and one of the larger cities to partner with the local Nazarene Church.
We are excited about being a part of the team of students. We will be doing a variety of work from basketball and English camps to building relationships.
Craig and I are raising funds for the trip, and God has blessed us so far. Currently, we still need to raise about $1,700 to cover expenses for our family. If you would like to contribute, you can mail a check to Southern Nazarene University, Office of Spiritual Development ATTN: SIMS, 6729 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008. Click here to give online through the 2:8 House.
We would greatly appreciate your support. The chance to partner with SNU in mission from our mission at OU is just another opportunity to be obedient--one more time. Thanks be to God.

Board to discuss 2013 budget
The Board of Directors will discuss the 2013 budget at its regular, quarterly meeting, on Tuesday, February 26th.
"God has always provided for the needs of the 2:8 House through the generous support of several friends of the ministry," David Kyncl said. "We need to continue to expand that support base as we seek to address growing ministry opportunities on campus."
A report of the meeting will be included in the March 2:8 Update.
A list of all donors for 2012 is included in the 2012 Annual Report.

Home improvement, 2013 As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ministry, our house at 700 Chautauqua Ave. will mark its 97th year in existence!
As with any home, we have a list of potential "home improvement" projects. Many of these could be completed in one day by a few individuals, a Sunday School or church group. Here is a partial list of projects.
Install wooden fencing: We would like to have a privacy fence built around our side yard. This would include 2 gates and 87 linear feet of privacy fence. A contractor estimated it would cost $3,200 to have this professionally installed.
We also would like to replace 33 linear feet of a white wooden picket fence adjacent to our back driveway. This fence was built by our neighbors and is in need of repair. Some of the damage includes a few bumps and scrapes from cars parked in our driveway.
Tree removal: We received a $900 estimate from a tree removal company for a tree located on the southeast corner of the house. This is not our largest tree, but it does extend over the corner of the second-story section of the house.
Window repair: One of the windows on the northeast corner of the house needs to be rebuilt. It appears that the window was built to enclose the front porch. It includes four, fixed panes of glass. Some of the wood has rotted and needs to be replaced. |

Volunteers sought for various needs
Several volunteers with various gifts and skills are needed as the ministry of the 2:8 House continues.
Building and Grounds The 2:8 House was built in 1915, so there are always projects that need to be done around the house. A short list is provided in an article below. Many of these projects could be completed in a work day or weekend. However, we need a small group of people who could walk through the house and help prioritize what needs to be done. This group could also help organize work days. The Business of Ministry The 2:8 House is a non-profit corporation established to provide ministry to students and others at the University of Oklahoma. (See mission statement below.) As a non-profit corporation, the 2:8 House seeks to operate as faithful stewards. We plan to review all our business practices to find ways to operate most efficiently. International Hospitality With students from more than 100 countries on the OU campus, we need volunteers who would work with established programs on campus to provide hospitality and love to these students. We would host periodic activities at the 2:8 House for these families and students. |

| Deuteronomy 32:1-2 (The Message) |
|
Listen, Heavens, I have something to tell you.
Attention, Earth, I've got a mouth full of words.
My teaching, let it fall like a gentle rain, my words arrive like morning dew,
like a sprinkling rain on new grass, like spring showers on the garden.
For it's God's Name I'm preaching--
respond to the greatness of our God! |
