Dear Friends,
You may notice that we are beginning a couple of new features with this edition of our monthly 2:8 Update e-newsletter. We will have a special feature with profiles alternating between current members of our board of directors and OU students. We begin the feature with a profile of Duane Cox, president of the board of directors.
We also will begin financial updates on a quarterly basis. We feel it is important that we are accountable about how funds are raised and used. We will provide some basic information with a link for more detailed information. Even though finances are often tight, we do not want anyone to feel pressured into giving to the 2:8 House. We believe that God will continue to provide for the needs of the ministry through the generous support of our friends. We encourage you to give as God directs.
We realize that many of our friends who receive this email have committed to praying for us on a regular basis. Please continue to keep the Kyncl family and the Shepperd family in your prayers. We appreciate you prayer support.
We will continue to feature various ways that you can join us on the journey of reaching out to the OU campus with the love of Christ.
Thank you for your partnership with us. May God continue to bless each of you.
Dave, Rhonda, Mary and Jonathan Kyncl Craig, Anita and Jude Shepperd

Home improvement, 2012 As celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ministry, our house at 700 Chautauqua Ave. will mark its 97th year in existence!
As with any home, we have a list of potential "home improvement" projects. Many of these could be completed in one day by a few individuals, a Sunday School or church group. Here is a partial list of projects.
Install wooden fencing: We would like to have a privacy fence built around our side yard. This would include 2 gates and 87 linear feet of privacy fence. A contractor estimated it would cost $3,200 to have this professionally installed.
We also would like to replace 33 linear feet of a white wooden picket fence adjacent to our back driveway. This fence was built by our neighbors and is in need of repair. Some of the damage includes a few bumps and scrapes from cars parked in our driveway.
Tree removal: We received a $900 estimate from a tree removal company for a tree located on the southeast corner of the house. This is not our largest tree, but it does extend over the corner of the second-story section of the house.
Window repair: One of the windows on the northeast corner of the house needs to be rebuilt. It appears that the window was built to enclose the front porch. It includes four, fixed panes of glass. Some of the wood has rotted and needs to be replaced. |

2:8 House--God at work
During the 20th Anniversary celebration, friends were asked to share their favorite memories of the ministry. Some of these memories will be shared in this space in the coming months.
Chris Ely wrote on our 2:8 Alumni Facebook page: I was hooked from the start ... from the first scent of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen to the first time I was handed a plate and told there was FREE lunch in the kitchen. Good food and Jesus are a great combination!
I will always remember helping out at the annual Big Event, the MANY Super Bowl/OU bowl game/"Any NCAA event an OU team might be playing in" watch parties, and performing "leftovers control" in the frige after all the Tuesday lunches. Thanks to those leftovers, as surprising as it sounds, I never had to resort to Ramen at any point of my time at OU.
I can't remember if I had a nickname. If I did, it certainly wasn't as fun as "Fashion-Coordinated" Kyle or "Susquahannah." I wonder if everyone still breaks out into their own personal dance everytime to phone rings?!?
On a more serious note.... I was blessed with the opportunity to live upstairs for two years and truly become part of the family. The 2:8 family welcomed me from the get go, and helped establish a firm foundation of faith through my collegiate years. Thank you, David and Rhonda, for listening when we needed someone to just listen and showing us what it means to have a Servant's Heart.
Thank you to all who have donated and continue to support the 2:8 House, both in prayer and financially.
The 2:8 House is blessed to have a great "Cloud of Witnesses." |

| Deuteronomy 32:1-2 (The Message) |
|
Listen, Heavens, I have something to tell you.
Attention, Earth, I've got a mouth full of words.
My teaching, let it fall like a gentle rain, my words arrive like morning dew,
like a sprinkling rain on new grass, like spring showers on the garden.
For it's God's Name I'm preaching--
respond to the greatness of our God! |
