QUOTES OF THE MONTH!
(Boston Strong)

To commemorate the victims of the recent Boston tragedies, we thought to share with you our related "Quotes of the Month" here: Boston Strong.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF THE 10TH ANNUAL TODD'S TROT!

A huge 'thank you' to everyone who participated in, donated to, or cheered others on at the 10th Annual Todd's Trot. A great time was had by all!

It was especially exciting for our Cross Insurance office, as our own Commercial Producer, Tim Weddleton's brother-in-law took first place on the men's side! Nick Karwoski of Hollis, 24, a two-time All-American at Division III Dickinson College, ran well ahead of the competition, finishing 15:31, a full 74 seconds before his closest competitor.

Greetings:

In light of the tragic Marathon events, we want to express our thoughts and prayers to all of the victims and their families, and our deep gratitude to all the emergency responders, volunteers, medical personnel and heroes. Boston is home to all of us, and at Cross Insurance, we stand strong with Boston - an inspiring and enduring city, in spite of its suffering and wounds.  Boston will heal and move forward.

At Cross Insurance, our team has decided to do our part in helping Boston move forward by assisting The One Fund Boston that was established by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Governor Deval Patrick. The One Fund Boston will act as a central fund with a goal of providing financial assistance to the people and families most affected by the Boston Marathon bombings.

To learn more about how our team of coworkers will be helping to support this worthy cause, please take a look at our Community Partner article below, along with the latest Personal, Commercial, Health and Financial resources here in our May newsletter.

Very best regards,
Chris

                         THE ONE FUND, BOSTON
                 Our Most Recent Community Partner

At Cross Insurance, our goal is to help support  as many local non-profit organizations as we can, as we are proud to give  back to the  community that supports us. Our team of coworkers has  decided to participate in Casual Attire Day, where we  choose  a local non-profit community  partner that we will assist each month. Employees interested in participating donate a dollar on Fridays, if they  choose  to  wear  jeans, and then a new recipient is chosen for  the following month.

Our  most  recent featured community  partner is THE ONE FUND BOSTON, INC. Massachusetts Governor  Deval   Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino have announced the formation of   this fundraising effort to help the people most affected by the tragic   events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013.

To let us know about your own recommendation for a very deserving community program, simply email Diane Gorman or give us a call at (603)742-2552.

     HEAR WHAT OTHERS
HAVE SAID ABOUT US THIS MONTH!

At Cross Insurance, we don't merely promise that we'll be there for all of your personal and commercial protection needs. Our pledge is to be consistent in  every area of service, including that of building  relationships with you that are based on trust, such as Bob Heuchling has shared with us here:

"As a Navy veteran I had been a customer of USAA Insurance for over 30 years. I decided I wanted to keep my business local in hopes of more personal service. Pam reviewed my policies and was able to save me a considerable amount of money on both my Auto and Homeowners insurance polices while maintaining virtually the same coverage. When a micro-burst toppled a pine tree onto my garage roof last September Chris showed up to take pictures! How often does the boss show up to do that? My claim was handled efficiently and professionally. I am very pleased that I switched to Cross Insurance. The people make the difference."

Sincerely,

Bob Heuchling

And, because yours is the only opinion that matters, we also would like to pass along and share your words with others...so they know what to expect from us too! Our goal is that you are 110% satisfied with your experience with our agency. If our client care, pricing or claim service has been satisfactory to you, we would like to share this mutual benefit with any potential or existing clients. Please take a minute to jot down some thoughts on our Testimonial Request Form on how our agency has helped you, saved you money or made your life a little better at any time.  This will also improve our service to  you, our valued client, in the future.

And, as a way of saying thanks for "helping us help you, we will enter you two times in our $100 Quarterly Gift Drawing when we receive your testimonial. Thank you!

IMPORTANT
DISTRACTED DRIVING UPDATES

Were you aware that according to the US Department of Transportation, sending or receiving a text takes a driver's eyes from the road for an average of 4.6 seconds, the equivalent-at 55 mph-of driving the length of an entire football field, blind?

Each day in the United States, more than 9 people are killed and more than 1,060 people are injured in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver. Distracted driving is driving while doing another activity that takes your attention away from driving. Distracted driving can increase the chance of a motor vehicle crash. There are three main types of distraction:

*Visual: taking your eyes off the road;
*Manual: taking your hands off the wheel; and
*Cognitive: taking your mind off what you are doing.

To learn more about the effects of cell phone use and texting while driving, along with the risk factors, please view this very important Distracted Driving article from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

At Cross Insurance, we not only care about your personal safety, but about your knowledge of the driving laws as well, especially since many of you may routinely cross over the Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts borders. We strongly encourage you to check out the Distracted Driving Laws in each state here.

We have also updated our Teenager-Parent Driver Contract here to include  eliminating Cell Phone and Texting usage while driving. This, along with our article, Teen Drivers-The High Risk Years and 10 Tips for Managing Driver Distractions will be very helpful in reminding you (and your teen) about the significance of safe driving.

If you would like a copy of our updated Teen Driver Contract, or to answer any of your questions about Distracted Driving Laws, call or email Pam Hagen, or any of our Personal Account Managers today! You'll be glad you did!

PROTECTING YOUR BUSINESS: THE CGL SOLUTION

4

In today's "litigation society," you face lawsuits that could cripple your bottom line - or even put you out of business - based on anything from a fire on your premises to an allegation of libel by a competitor.

Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance provides financial protection against damage or injury caused by something that your business did, or perhaps didn't do. Your CGL policy covers a variety of exposures that you can learn more about here.

(Please scroll down)

To answer any of your questions about this essential coverage, call or email Deb Gifford, or any of our Commercial Account Managers today!

                                      DRIP, DRIP, DRIP:
                        DEALING WITH WATER DAMAGE
To minimize hazards that can cause water damage claims,  we recommend that you take these steps:

Check for leaks.
Periodically inspect the area around the refrigerator, washer, dishwasher, water heater, sinks, and toilets for drips, puddles, and discolored, warped, or soft flooring.

Pay attention to your water bill.
Monthly fluctuations could indicate a leak.

Periodically check your water pressure.
Water losses often occur due to excessive water pressure. Buy a pressure gauge at your local hardware store, and hook it up to a hose bib. If it's above 65 psi, install a water pressure regulator.

Before you go on vacation, take precautions.
If temperatures in your area could dip below freezing, make sure that any exposed pipes are insulated, turn off the water supply to individual fixtures, and turn your furnace to low so that the pipes will stay warm enough to avoid bursting.

If you need to file a claim, simply follow these guidelines, and give
us a call so that our protection team can assist you. (Please scroll down)
