10TH ANNUAL
TODD'S TROT
ROAD RACE/WALK!

Please join us at the 10th Annual Todd's Trot Road Race Run/Walk, that will take place this  year at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6th, at the Oyster River High School in Durham. This family oriented event garners nearly seven-hundred  entries per year, drawing a broad spectrum of participants from  elite runners  to 'weekend warriors'  and walkers  of all kinds.  For  many children,  this is their first competitive race event, and numerous kid-friendly door prizes provide for many happy returns.

The road  race/walk  is  held  annually  in  memory  of Peter "Todd" Heuchling, and is sponsored  in  part  by  Cross Insurance. Todd was a standout student-athlete and 2002 graduate of Oyster River High School, who went on to attend the United States Military Academy.  Only nineteen, Todd passed away suddenly and tragically from heat stroke while competing with the West Point Marathon Team in the summer of 2003.

Friends of Oyster River Track (FORT) has been organizing and coordinating this event for the past seven years.  It is a 501(C)3 organization, which promotes physical fitness through running and  other forms of exercise.  Proceeds  from  the  race  fund  a $5,000 scholarship that is awarded to a high school senior  in Todd's name.  The Peter
"Todd Heuchling  Memorial  Scholarship  is presented each spring during graduation ceremonies at the Oyster River High School.  Scholarship  candidates  must demonstrate characteristics of high integrity,  athletic participation, strong academic standing, service to country and/or service to others.

To register, donate or to learn more, please visit the Todd's Trot website.

Greetings:

We've all experienced those times when bad things happen on any given day - ranging from the small things, such as spilling your coffee or losing your car keys, to the larger personal, professional and financial misfortunes. When these things happen, we can either fall into ineffective coping behaviors, or we can focus on what we can do, including asking for help.

At Cross Insurance, we are always sorry to hear when bad things happen to any of our clients have suffered an accident or have a claim on their insurance policy, but that's why you have insurance - to protect you or your business when something bad happens. Experiencing a loss can be overwhelming. We understand, and we will take the necessary steps to make processing your insurance claim simple and free of frustration.

There are a few things you should know BEFORE you submit your claim, and
there are many factors that determine the true impact of a claim on your policy, and which you can learn more about here:

Keeping the focus on what we can do, we encourage you to take a look at all of our current protection news and articles this month, so that you can be proactive about your protection and your savings.

And, as we've heard it said that '2013 is the Year of Optimism', we thought to pass on this encouraging piece about remaining positive - no matter what comes your way today. Enjoy!

Very best regards,
Chris

   SHOULD YOU DROP COLLISION COVERAGE

ON YOUR OLD CAR?

We're often asked when is a car so old that it's no longer a wise investment to continue buying collision insurance for it. The answer depends on your individual situation.

First, what's the true worth of the car? Any repair or replacement costs following a collision will be based on the value of the vehicle at the time of the claim. Also consider your deductible amount. For example, if your car is now worth $2,000 and your deductible for collision claims is $500, insurance will pay no more than $1,500 for your loss.

Read on (and please scroll down) to help you make a more informed decision about whether or not to drop collision coverage on your old car. And, to answer any of your collision coverage questions, call or email Amanda Payeur or any of our Personal Account Managers today!

OUR FEATURED COMMUNITY PARTNER
'The Newtown Memorial Fund'

At Cross Insurance, our goal is to help support as many local  non-profit organizations as we can, as we are proud to give back to the  community that supports us. Our team of coworkers has decided to participate in Casual Attire Day, where we  choose  a local non-profit community  partner that we will assist each month. Employees interested in participating donate a dollar on Fridays, if they  choose to  wear  jeans, and then a new recipient is chosen for the following month.

Our  most recent featured community  partner is the Newtown Memorial Fund,  whose mission is to create a long-term fund to provide a memorial to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, and to establish academic scholarships in the victims' names for classmates and generations of Newtown students to come. As we are all aware, the heartbreaking incident at Sandy Hook could have taken place in any community, and for that reason, we consider Newtown to be part of our own greater community at this time.

To let us know about  your own recommendation for a very deserving community program, simply email Diane Gorman or give us a call at (603) 742-2552.
