 2013 Greetings!
We hope that you and your family had a terrific holiday! Despite the busyness of the season, there is also something about beginning a new year that provides us with a time to reflect, hope and renew. Whatever is in the past is behind us now. We get a chance to start over - to persevere with a clean slate. It could be the best year yet!
Speaking of perseverance, if you haven't already had a chance to see the movie, Lincoln, it is an inspirational film that you won't want to miss. It brilliantly illustrates the declining days of the Civil War and the obstacles Lincoln overcame to have the Thirteenth Amendment passed in order to abolish slavery. It's often thought that the most fascinating aspect of his legacy was that he constantly failed at life, but Lincoln also kept persistent despite his circumstances - consistently placing himself in a position to succeed.
Taking this into account, the New Year is the perfect time to take a look at each aspect of our own lives. Whether you desire to lose weight, create financial independence, build a healthy relationship, or raise responsible children, the formula for achieving any goal is the same. Decide what's most important to you, map out clear resolutions, place yourself in a position to succeed, and never, ever give up.
In like manner, at Cross Insurance, our aim is to be persistent by continuing to provide you with the most current Insurance, Financial and Health Care Reform solutions for you, your family and/or your business in 2013.
Happy New Year from all of us at Cross Insurance!
Chris

TOP 10 REASONS TO PURCHASE THE RENTAL CAR DAMAGE WAIVER
Although most collision damage waiver (CDW) or loss damage waiver (LDW) fees are considered outrageous, most consumers should consider purchasing the CDW/LDW for short-term rentals. This is becoming increasingly the case as rental car companies charge ever-higher fees and penalties for losses and expenses not covered by most auto policies or credit cards. Learn about all 10 Reasons to Purchase the Rental Car Damage Waiver.

OUR FEATURED COMMUNITY PARTNER
'The Newtown Memorial Fund'
At Cross Insurance, our goal is to help support as many local non-profit organizations as we can, as we are proud to give back to the community that supports us. Our team of coworkers has decided to participate in Casual Attire Day, where we choose a local non-profit community partner that we will assist each month. Employees interested in participating donate a dollar on Fridays, if they choose to wear jeans, and then a new recipient is chosen for the following month.
Our most recent featured community partner is the Newtown Memorial Fund, whose mission is to create a long-term fund to provide a memorial to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, and to establish academic scholarships in the victims' names for classmates and generations of Newtown students to come. As we are all aware, the heartbreaking incident at Sandy Hook could have taken place in any community, and for that reason, we consider Newtown to be part of our own greater community at this time.
To let us know about your own recommendation for a very deserving community program, simply email Diane Gorman or give us a call at (603) 742-2552.

THE TEN BIGGEST MISTAKES IN HIRING High turnover, sexual harassment, violence in the workplace, employee theft - when you hire the wrong person, a lot can go wrong! Avoid these common errors: 1. Failing to identify company needs. Define your needs for the position. Instead of assuming that you need a certain type of employee, test your assumptions. 2. Failure to test employee skills. Identify the job's objective standard and test for it. Unless you assess an applicant's skills, you're gambling that they can perform - a bet you might well lose. 3. Hiring out of desperation. Hire in haste - and end with waste. If you can't hire in a timely manner, bring in a temporary or leased employee, or borrow a worker from another company. Read on to learn about all of The Ten Biggest Mistakes in Hiring. (Please scroll down.) To answer any of your questions about avoiding these common errors, be sure to call or email Deb Gifford, or any of our Commercial Account Managers today! 603-742-2552 |
