Greetings: As Sandy has passed through our region, we hope that you and your family remained safe. All in all, we were very fortunate not to have been hit too hard, compared to others less fortunate in the New Jersey and New York area. If you have suffered loss or damage, we wish you a speedy return to pre-storm conditions, and if you need assistance, we will work on your behalf to see that your insurance carrier processes your insurance claim both promptly and fairly, so you get the results you deserve. In like manner, most of us couldn't have guessed that we would encounter an earthquake and super storm within a couple of weeks of each other! While the likelihood of both events taking place back to back is rare, it's important to reemphasize that both flooding (resulting from storms and hurricane conditions) and earthquakes are not covered by a standard homeowners policy. Flood requires a separate application and policy to the National Flood Insurance Program, which you can apply for through our office. Floods are the most common and costly natural disaster, and to determine your risk, you can learn more about the pro's and con's of flood protection here. Equally important is that the overall earthquake risk to our area is high, and many buildings and homes are not built to modern earthquake standards. Read on to find out why earthquake insurance is important everywhere, along with earthquake protection and exclusions for commercial properties. Give us a call today for sound advice pertaining to storm, flood and earthquake protection, or to answer any of your questions about the informative resources here in our November newsletter. Our trusted advisors look forward to assisting you and your unique needs.
Very best regards,
Chris

DON'T UNDER (OR OVER) INSURE
YOUR HOME
Do you have the right amount of insurance on your home? To begin with, your Homeowners policy should have coverage for at least 80% of "replacement cost" -- the amount needed to repair or replace damage to the building and furnishings with items of like kind and quality. Some insurance companies require coverage of 90% or more under a "guaranteed replacement cost option," which will pay for replacing your home without depreciation and often without a maximum reconstruction payment. Learn more about determining the proper replacement cost value and coverage amount on your home.
If you have any questions regarding the replacement value of your home, please call or email Nancy Nelms, or any of our Personal Account Managers today. You'll be glad you did!

At Cross Insurance, we don't merely promise that we'll be there for all of your personal and commercial protection needs. Our pledge is to be consistent in every area of service, including that of building relationships with you that are based on trust, as Brigitte Williams has shared with us below:
Dear Mr. Gorman: I Just wanted to let you know that Amanda Payeur is courteous, efficient and helpful. She always answers my queries promptly. It's a pleasure to work with her. ~Brigitte Williams
And, because yours is the only opinion that matters, we also would like to pass along and share your words with others...so they know what to expect from us too! Our goal is that you are 110% satisfied with your experience with our agency. If our client care, pricing or claim service has been satisfactory to you, we would like to share this mutual benefit with any potential or existing clients. Please take a minute to jot down some thoughts on our Testimonial Request Form on how our agency has helped you, saved you money or made your life a little better at any time. OUR FEATURED COMMUNITY PARTNER
AMY'S TREAT: Assisting the Journey of Those Living With Cancer
At Cross Insurance, our goal is to help support as many local non-profit organizations as we can, as we are proud to give back to the community that supports us. Our team of coworkers has decided to participate in Jeans Day, where we choose a local non-profit community partner that we will assist each month. Employees interested in participating donate a dollar on Fridays, if they choose to wear jeans, and then a new recipient is chosen for the following month.
Our most recent featured community partner for the months of October and November is Amy'sTreat.org. Amy's Treat is a foundation that enriches the journey of those living with cancer, benefiting the patients of the Seacoast Cancer Center of New Hampshire. Amy's Treat offers need based solutions and special outings to individuals whose life has been altered by cancer. Items might include everything from gas cards to dentures to seats at a Patriots game and just about everything in between, because while cancer is not unique, those who battle it are. Request for aid is made through the people that are actively involved in a patient's treatment, the medical personnel who work with them. Amy's Treat remains an all-volunteer non-profit
To let us know about your own recommendation for a very deserving community program, simply email Diane Gorman or give us a call at (603) 742-2552. |
ELEVENTH CIRCUIT RULES WELLNESS PROGRAM COMPLIES WITH THE ADA
Blaine Horne from our Cross Employee Benefits Department, would like you to be aware that on Aug. 20, 2012, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that an employer's wellness program did not violate the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibition on non-voluntary medical examinations and disability related inquiries. Read on to learn more about focusing on rewarding participation rather than penalizing those who don't participate , in our November Benefits Buzz. And, be sure to take a look at our November Live Well, Work Well newsletter too!
