Undisclosed Synthetics Threaten Consumer Confidence
Recent reports of undisclosed synthetic diamonds mixed in with natural stones highlight the need for proper identification and disclosure of lab-grown diamonds at all levels of the jewelry supply chain. Failure to do so could undermine consumer confidence in natural diamonds. Jewelers of America recently met with other industry groups to discuss ideas on how to ensure the diamond pipeline is untarnished by undisclosed lab-grown stones or diamond simulants. JA will monitor the situation and provide timely updates to members as needed. JA Members can review JA's information on Synthetic Diamonds in the Responsible Business section of www.jewelers.org. |
