On Thursday, November 6, 2014, Rhode Island KIDS COUNT released a new Issue Brief, Child and Adolescent Obesity in Rhode Island. Highlights include:
  • New district-level information presented on positive health habits of Rhode Island students
  • New city/town-level information presented on environmental and social measures relating to obesity

20 Years of RIte Care Celebrated at Annual Children's Health Luncheon
More than 200 community leaders, elected officials, and health care experts gathered for the annual Celebration of Children's Health Luncheon on November 24, 2014, which highlighted the continued successes and importance of RIte Care, Rhode Island's health insurance program for low- and moderate- income children and families. The Luncheon also celebrated RIte Care's 20th Anniversary of covering RI children & families! 

Covering Kids Awards were presented to community leaders and elected officials for their ongoing commitment to children's health coverage.

The event also marked the release of RIte Care Results, which highlights data showing many positive outcomes of RIte Care. For more, please see the media release, presentation, and event pictures.

If so, please join The Rhode Island Health Coverage Project at their annual health coverage workshop on Tuesday, December 9, from 8:30 am - 11:30 am at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI. The event is free, and a light breakfast will be served.


Registration is required, and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will close once this event reaches capacity.

New Open Enrollment/RIte Care Renewals Information and Resources
The Rhode Island Health Coverage Project has the latest information and a new Bilingual Fact Sheet on what different groups need to know about health coverage.

 

  • Need Insurance? Enroll Now: November 15th marked the beginning of the second year of open enrollment for HealthSource RI. Uninsured Rhode Islanders can enroll in coverage between November 15 and February 15. HealthSource RI has produced an infographic to help consumers pick a plan that best meets their needs 
  • Already Have HealthSource RI Coverage? Renew Now: All individuals and families who enrolled in coverage through HealthSource RI in 2014, regardless of when they enrolled, will receive notices in November about renewing coverage for 2015. They need to renew and pay by December 23 to keep coverage for January 1. There are many new plans available. 
  • Already have Medicaid/RIte Care Coverage?  New Renewal Process: Individuals and families who enrolled in Medicaid or RIte Care in 2014 through HealthSource RI also need to renew their coverage for 2015. Consumers will receive a notice about renewal 10 months before the month in which they enrolled.
