On May 20, The Rhode Island Health Coverage Project hosted a workshop about current health coverage options for Rhode Islanders under the Affordable Care Act (RIte Care/Medicaid and HealthSource RI). Topics covered included recent coverage gains, the enrollment process going forward, health coverage for former foster youth, special enrollment periods for HealthSource RI, and health care options for the uninsured. On the May episode of the Rhode Island KIDS COUNT TV Show, Dr. Margaret Howard (Director of the Postpartum Depression Day Hospital at Women & Infants Hospital) and Susan Jacobsen (Executive Director of the Mental Health Association of RI) joined host Elizabeth Burke Bryant to discuss mental health and Rhode Island families. This in-depth episode discusses why good mental health is so important for the overall health of children and families, and what treatment options are available for mothers and families who are experiencing mental health issues.
