The article cites Rhode Island KIDS COUNT data that show that the number of juvenile offenses being referred to Rhode Island Family Court has declined.  Several participants in the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) were interviewed in the article, including Kevin Aucoin and Joseph Cardin from the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families, and Sergeant Carl Weston from the Providence Police Department.
