Rhode Island KIDS COUNT will hold our annual Celebration of Children's Health Luncheon on Monday, November 19, 2012, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Providence Marriott, located on Orms Street in Providence.
The Luncheon celebrates the progress the state has made in achieving positive health outcomes for Rhode Island's children. Click to download the invitation and RSVP form.

Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Awarded Funds to Promote Dental Visits Among Very Young Children

Rhode Island KIDS COUNT has received $150,000 from the DentaQuest Foundation on behalf of the Rhode Island Oral Health Commission. The funding is part of the second phase of the DentaQuest Foundation's Oral Health 2014 Initiative, a national movement to address oral health disparities in the United States.
Rhode Island KIDS COUNT and a Leadership Team of local partners will institute a communications campaign aimed at improving the oral health of very young children in Rhode Island. Delta Dental of Rhode Island is providing matching funds in the amount of $45,000. Click to read the news release.

Two Important Publications on Birth Outcomes in Rhode Island Released

The Rhode Island Task Force on Premature Births has released its 2012 Progress Report, which tracks the progress that Rhode Island has made in addressing the issue of preterm births over the past six years. According to the report, the preterm birth rate in Rhode Island declined from 12.5% in 2006 to 10.3% in 2011.
The Rhode Island Department of Health recently released the 2013-2015 Preconception Health Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan provides a detailed strategy to maximize healthy pregnancy outcomes in Rhode Island over the next three years.

2012 Rhode Island Kids Count Factbook Still Available |
Copies of the 2012 Rhode Island Kids Count Factbook are still available. The annual publication charts improvements and declines in 67 indicators of child well-being in Rhode Island, including Children's Health Insurance, Access to Dental Care, Children's Mental Health, Children with Asthma and Births to Teens.
