Checklist for Campus Sexual Misconduct Policies

The White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault has developed a guided checklist to help campuses develop an effective sexual misconduct policy. This list provides both a process for developing a policy, as well as the key elements a school should consider in drafting a policy. To access this document, click here.
 

Building Partnerships with Local Rape Crisis Centers: Developing a Memorandum of Understanding

Colleges and universities can strengthen sexual assault prevention and response programs by developing partnerships with local rape crisis centers. The White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault has developed a document to help institutions of higher education formalize these partnerships. Sample Language for Reporting and Confidentially Disclosing Sexual Violence

Campus professionals may struggle to balance a sexual assault survivor's confidentiality with fulfilling their obligation to provide a safe campus for everyone by holding perpetrators accountable. The White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault has provided a Sample Reporting and Confidentiality Policy document to help campuses carry out these principles. There is no "one-size-fits-all" model of survivor care. This document is designed to help campuses hone their unique policies. To view this resource, click here.


Building Partnerships among Law Enforcement Agencies, Colleges and Universities

The White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault has provided the Building Partnerships among Law Enforcement Agencies,Colleges and Universities: Developing a Memorandum of Understanding to Prevent and Respond Effectively to Sexual Assaults at Colleges and Universities as a resource providing sample language that may be helpful to institutions of higher education and local law enforcement agencies as they formulate or update a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Department of Justice Special Report: Campus Law Enforcement, 2011-12 

This report from the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) presents findings from a survey of campus law enforcement agencies and focuses primarily on 4-year colleges and universities enrolling 2,500 or more students. The report highlights the number of campuses using armed officers compared to the number used during the 2004-05 school year, the number of sworn police officers on public campuses compared to private college campuses, and much more. Against Our Will Campaign: Organize on Campus

The Against Our Will Campaign, sponsored by mtvU, was launched in September 2011 in partnership with Free the Slaves, GEMS, and Polaris Project. The campaign aims to amplify America's college students' efforts to end modern-day slavery in the U.S., and empowers them to learn more and get involved. The Organize on Campus resource provides students an opportunity to join or start a student group, share what they're doing, and helps them stay up-to-date on what is being done to stop human trafficking. 

Improving Access to Financial Aid and Career-Related Work Experience for Low-Income and Post-Traditional Students

With the increasingly high costs of post-secondary education (tuition, fees, and living expenses), more low-income students are relying on work to supplement their unmet financial needs. Strengthening the "Work" in Federal Work-Study: Improving Access to Financial Aid and Career-Related Work Experience for Low-Income and Post-Traditional Students highlights the key challenges of the current Federal Work-Study program at meeting the needs of low-income and non-traditional students and provides recommendations to reform the program, specifically around career-focused job placements. UndocuScholars has released a report detailing the experiences of undocumented undergraduate students. Amidst the turbulent crosscurrents of immigration reform, nearly a quarter of a million undocumented undergraduates are struggling to find their way in higher education. Their liminal state calls for research to inform the unique needs and challenges of this growing student population. The report, In the Shadows of the Ivory Tower: Undocumented Undergraduates and the Liminal State of Immigration Reform, also illuminates the range and complexities of issues these undocumented young people experience in their post-secondary careers.
