June has been such a wonderful month of getting out and meeting people. I love hearing what people have to say about my flutes as we play flutes together.

The most common phase I hear is, "Wow, this flute plays so easy and sounds so good... it is almost like it is playing itself."

This does not happen by accident. It happens because I listen carefully to the things people say they care about when they are selecting flutes. For example this last trip, I kept hearing people say they wanted flutes with a little more back pressure. So I immediately came back to the shop and made some very slight modifications to the flute voice box that increased the back pressure ever so much and smooth out the flutes sound incredibly! It was wonderful! I am so pleased with the modification that I have rolled it out into all of the flutes.

I am so thankful to my clients and their thoughtful words of encouragement that help me bring you a better flute. Who would have thought that once again we would make a step change improvement in our instruments? Of course I will continue to always strive for improvement.

So please visit my website and click on the Video Link to see the Contest Videos and support your favorite videos.  Help promote your favorite video by sending it out to your friends on Facebook and Google Pluss and other social media.

This contest has been all about getting the most views and seeing who can get a video to go viral. There is still time to make it happen for any one of the contestants. A little work by a lot of people will go a long way.

I am already planning the next Video Contest. The next Contest I run I am planning on making two major changes. 1, the contest will be a judged contest by a panel of judges based on various criteria. 2, the contest will have two runners up as well sat eh main winner. There are just too many great videos to reward just the one video. So if you did not get your video in for this contest, make sure you start thinking about the next one...

Raven Steals The Sun

For the last four years Jeff Ball and I have been discussing a Jeff
Ball Curly Maple Signature flute. The story of Raven Steals the Sun has been a long standing story that Jeff and I have talked about putting on flutes. In fact I made him another flute with this story on it in 2005.

It has taken several years and many to bring this flute to life. Either the flute came out to be to expensive or it was not quite what we were after. Finally at the bringing of 2014 I created the art work that allowed this flute to come to fruition and

Currently flute number 8 of 15 is made and ready. Number 8 is a Mid G flute and is one of the most well balance flutes I have made. Rona Yellow Robe recently played this flute and said of it that it caused her to want to purchase a flute flute and that was a feeling that she had not had in several years. She said it was the most well balanced flute she had ever played.

Flute number 9 of 15 is a Mid F# and will be complete by the end of next week. Flute number 10 is a Mid A a
nd will be complete shortly after that. Experence has shown that these
flutes do not stay around long once I have them made.

Number 6 was taken to the RNAFF show. I had just pulled it out of the bag when the client saw the flute. and then played it. That was how number 6 found its home without ever touching a flute rack.

In short there is something magical about the Jeff Ball Curly Maple Signature flutes. Everyone that has a chance to play one wants one. The problem is there will only be 15 of these flutes made. We are already making number 10 and nearly half are already sold. The flute has only been available since mid March.  So if this is a flute you are wanting, you probably do not want to risk missing your chance.
