Hand Painted Flutes by Grammy Winning artist Bill Miller

I am so pleased to announce the Bill Miller Fine Art flutes. Painted in the style of the Painted Pony series Bill won so much acclaim for, these flutes are amazing works of art.

Eagle Song

Bill Miller is an award-winning recording artist, performer, songwriter, activist, painter, and world-class accomplished flute player. Over the past four years, Miller has produced two incredible albums, received a Grammy Award and led Wisconsin's La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, a member of the League of American Orchestras.

Great Plains Spirit

A Mohican Indian from northern Wisconsin, Bill Miller has long been one of the most admired figures in the Native American music arena.

Ghost Dance

Bill has an equally active career as a painter. His work has been shown and sold in prestigious galleries around the country, and he maintains a studio at his Nashville home. With so busy a personal and professional life, it would seem that Bill Miller could cruise ever onward in easy contentment. But artists don't work that way. "I've been given a lot of second chances in my life," he says. "I've been through alcoholism and other problems. I was lifted out of the ditch, and I still see a blue sky above. After years of living against the grain, I see things as rivers, creeks and rainstorms, as the liquid layers of my life."

Bill and I will take orders for custom flutes as well. If you would like to talk to me about a flute in a different key or a particular concept, please give me a call or shoot me an email. brent@woodsounds.com (801) 822-1415

Woodsounds Student Flute

For years I have tried to make a student flute at a price point that was near the $200 mark. This elusive target has finally become a reality!

I am very pleased to announce the Woodsounds Student Flute!

Woodsounds Student Flutes

Mid G - $220             Mid A - $210             High C - $200

My goal with the Woodsounds Student Flute was to create an instrument that played easily and sounded good while at the same time did not cost so much that the average person was afraid to pick it up to begin to learn. To keep the price in check, the student flute is not voiced the same as a standard Woodsounds Flute. It does, however meet a standard with which I am pleased. Students studying with this instrument will not be frustrated, but rather, will have sweet and enjoyable experiences as they begin their journey with the flute. The flutes are concert tuned.

Mid G

The flute body is made from Apple wood and a dark hard hard wood for the mouth piece and the totem. The mouth piece is shape similar to the standard Woodsounds mouth piece. There are no shoulders or rails on the flute to help hold the totem in place on the flute. Additionally, there is no end cap to the flute. The flute is sanded and polished with wax for a natural feel. If you are looking for the Woodsounds Finish, you will need to look to our other flutes. These student flutes do not have the Woodsounds Finish on them.

Mid A

The student flute does not come with a Woodsounds Flute Bag. The flute bags are $25.

One last thing, I have committed to keep the price at the $200 level. To that I can only offer three keys; Mid G, Mid A,and High C. This helps me keep my overhead costs down thereby allowing me to keep the cost of the flute down.

High C

If you want a key other than the three keys offered with the Student, please feel free to consider a custom flute. Custom flute prices begin at $350 and custom flutes include the Woodsounds World Class Voicing, Sealed First Chamber, Flute Bag, Shoulders if wanted, and a Spirit Claw (as a basic) totem if wanted.

Oregon Association for Music Therapy Conference(OAMT)

OAMT's mission is to serve our membership and advance public awareness of the benefit's of music therapy in the state of Oregon.
The OAMT reached out to me late last year looking for support for their conference in the form of a donation for their silent auction. Jillian the organizer of the silent auction already owns two beautiful Woodsounds flutes which she uses in her work with Music Therapy. She has had wonderful experiences using the flute in Music Therapy. Here is one such example:

"Today I played your flutes for a wonderful woman who is beginning to go through the dying process. She has been having pain and difficulty breathing. Upon hearing the flute she let out a giant sigh, opened her eyes a little, smiled wide, and relaxed her whole body. Her daughter told me that music therapy is the only thing that is helping her have relief and feel good right now. What a blessing it is to have these precious tools to bring this peace to another being. Thank you for your incredible work."

We are excited to bring the flute to more Music Therapists.

April 27-24:

Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival

Santa Clarita's rich Western heritage takes center stage each year at the Cowboy Festival. This year marks the 21st annual event and looking back, some residents may wonder why the City hosts this Festival, which attracts more than 10,000 visitors each year. The Cowboy festival take place in a Western town that is used for filming movies like Jango. This is such a fun festival as the vendors set up shop in the Western town. This year Woodsounds will be set up on the Main Street in one of the old buildings. We are so excited to be there and to listen to all the great music that the festival brings in.

If there is an event in your area that you think we should attend, let me know. I would be delighted to look into it. Some of the best shows we attend have come about through the suggestion of our clients.
