Whew - that was a February to remember, and most likely, not in a good way. When just looking out your window induces chattering teeth, and the news never ends about how bad Boston is (and the words "Pats" or "Bruins" aren't even mentioned), the last thing that might come to mind is a trip for your sweet tooth. But viewed in another light, nothing beats snuggling up in front of a cozy fireplace with some decadent chocolate and a good glass of vino. Or even a bag of Swedish Fish and some Earl Grey. As the saying goes (I think), when life gives you lemons, eat lemon drops.
All In a Pretzel
New For Your Sweetly Salty Pleasure

Asher's Gourmet Pretzels
Village Candy now
offers three types of individually-wrapped Asher's Gourmet Pretzels. Each large 3- inches twist is drenched in rich, creamy milk chocolate, and covered with either M&Ms, Reese's Pieces, or Oreo bits. A family-owned-and-operated business, Asher's has been making fine chocolate confections for over four generations.
Today, they use the freshest, purest ingredients, just as Chester A. Asher did way back in 1892.

Great Gift Ideas from Jelly Belly

Jelly Belly Princess Slipper Did you leave behind that dang glass slipper again?

There's no longer any need to wait around for Prince Charming, 'cause you know that's not happening - go ahead and replace that plain old glass version with something even sweeter!

These adorable plastic princess slippers are modeled after Cinderella's classic crystal footwear, only this style is much better than the original... because it's stuffed full of delicious sparkling jelly beans! These pastel Enchanted Mix Jelly Bellies glow with an iridescent shimmer and come in delicious fruit flavors. So go ahead and pick up a pair... or seven. Your fairy godmother will understand - maybe you can even get her to "foot" the bill.

The loveable Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse make special occasions something to celebrate with these party favor sized tins. Each tin is filled with a customized mix of seven flavors of jelly beans selected just for Mickey and Minnie.

Strike a Pose: Vosges
Pronounced Vōj; does not rhyme with "sausages"

Vosges Petits Chocolats
Vosges Haut-Chocolat is one of the highest quality and most innovative chocolate artisans on the scene. Their fusion of indigenous spices, flowers, roots, herbs and liqueurs with premium chocolate creates a sensory experience that nurtures awareness of and appreciation for the world's diverse cultures. Their latest offering is a small group of Petits Chocolats (in English:  ounce bites), and Village Candy now offers three of them.

Mo's Dark Chocolate Bacon: Sulfite-free hickory smoked bacon is baked in small batches before they hand chop it into fine nibbles. Alderwood smoked salt exudes a campfire aroma and perfectly offsets the sweetness of the chocolate. Coconut Ash & Banana Super Dark: Deep, dark chocolate envelops the decadent combination of coconut and banana, offering many health benefits. Coconuts are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and healthy fats, while bananas provide potassium and Vitamin B6 that aide in cognitive and immune function, lower blood pressure, and promote healthy skin and hair. Your palate will indulge while your body and spirit enjoy a bonus boost. Black Salt Caramel: Will have you swooning at first bite -  70% cacao dark chocolate surrounding a molten, salt-spiked, soft caramel center.

CreamChocoTally

Village Candy's Cream & Chocolate Soda Tasting was a triumphant success. This great event took place on February 7, shortly after Sewickley's Chocolate Walk. We had many thirsty participants, and they all seemed to be having a great time.  The bottles above represent the offerings in the order in which they were served, and their respective sizes represent the favorites as they were voted. The winner for participating, drawn at random (we swear) from all the submitted ballots, is Michael Duckworth. Come in within the month of March and pick up a 4-pack of whatever your favorite was. And thanks to everyone for making it another successful event! To celebrate, come in during March and mention this newsletter, and get 20% off the top two faves - AJ Stephans Butterscotch Cream and/or Zuberfizz CocoFizz!

And save the date:
Next soda tasting - Saturday, April 25
