A number of companies have recently announced plans to relocate their HQ's to larger cities, including ConAgra's announcement that it will be moving from Omaha to Chicago.

There have been a number of recent high-profile headquarters announcements this year.
- Starting off the year, Mercedes Benz announced its headquarters would be moving from Montvale, New Jersey to the Atlanta suburbs in order to be "closer to our ever-growing Southeast customer base, our port in Brunswick, Ga., and our Alabama manufacturing facility, which accounts for half of the vehicles we sell here in the U.S.," the company said. A related Wall St. Journal article said Mercedes-Benz leadership cited low union membership, low corporate taxes, and easy access to well-maintained highways, railways, ports and airports. - Albemarle relocated from Baton Rouge to Charlotte, North Carolina. "Charlotte is the best strategic location to base the new Albemarle," said Luke Kissam, Albemarle's president and chief executive officer. "Located approximately 35 miles from our state-of-the-art lithium facility in Kings Mountain, metropolitan Charlotte provides easy and fast connectivity with customers and colleagues, fostering a collaborative environment and culture for our team."
