The populations and labor forces of most communities, regions, and states are not growing as quickly as they would like, nor necessarily with the types of skills that will serve their areas best in the future. And the attention on this topic is fully warranted. Availability and quality of workforce is always at the top or near the top in site selection projects.


For years now, the trends have been pointing to a shift from the traditional "build it and they (employees) will come" approach to "recruit them (workers) and they (companies) will come" approach. Of course, if you're going to go through the effort to recruit talent, you should focus your efforts on the specific types of talent that will serve your labor market best in the coming 3-5 years or longer.
