I recently had the opportunity to talk to some of the country's leading site selectors for a project. One of the comments that really struck me had to do with the new role of today's economic developers. 

 

Imagine you are the head economic developer for a good-sized region in the U.S. You might well be a CEcD with twenty or more years' experience under your belt. A site selector comes calling with a big, potential project. He can't tell you the name of the company, as usual, but you know it's a significant capital investment, a large number of jobs, and high average wages. (click to read more)
