Why MCHA on #GivingTuesday?

Each year, MCHA continues to be dedicated to the animals in our community. Working to make sure there are safe places for them to live, options for families struggling to keep their pets, and working towards a more humane future for our communities.

Thanksgiving is a simple holiday where friends and family gather in a spirit of thankfulness, friendship and giving.  This year MCHA has been busy, and this month, we're busy being thankful!

We're thankful for:
  • Over 580 animals and families who have sought out spay/neuter assistance
  • Over 100 animals and families who have received emergency medical assistance
  • Over 425 Visits with our VIPaws therapy animal teams
  • Over 4,000 people in attendance with Education Programming
  • Our 15 dedicated VIPaws volunteers
  • Our many, many dedicated office volunteers with more than 200 hours service with MCHA
  • The ongoing support and generosity of our community that continues to help us protect, advocate, and educate by donating, volunteering, participating and continuing to be an involved partner as we work towards a more humane Monroe County.

How easy is it to share your spoils with MCHA?

AmazonSmile: When first visiting AmazonSmile, customers are prompted to select a charitable organization from almost one million eligible organizations. In order to browse or shop at AmazonSmile, customers must first select a charitable organization. For eligible purchases at AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to the customer's selected charitable organization.

Amazon Wishlist: Shopping online on Cyber Monday? Check out the MCHA Amazon Wishlist to see if you can send any extra supplies or donations our way! We use these items to support office procedures, our therapy animal teams, animal ambassadors and supplement our expenses, saving more of our raised dollars for much needed programming and services!

Goodshop: Search the Internet with a patent-protected, Yahoo!-powered search engine (just like you'd search on any other search engine), and GoodSearch will donate about a penny for nearly all searches to MCHA.

GoodSearch: Shop at one of more than 2,800 participating stores (from Amazon to Zazzle) and a percentage of what you spend will be donated to MCHA at no cost to you. Oh, and by the way, there's a big added bonus here too. Goodshop lists more than 100,000 coupons and deals so you could save money while doing good!

Volunteers Needed!

VIPaws is looking for people with pets who love people and have good manners to become part of our therapy animal program.  Come to one of our orientations to learn more about VIPaws, the Pet Partners program and the process and costs involved in becoming a therapy animal team.  These free informational sessions last about an hour, and reservations are required. Contact Sarah DeLone at sdelone@monroehumane.org or 335-9453 to reserve your spot today.
