August 2014
NEWS & NOTES
It's doggone good information to know.

August 15th is Check the Chip Day!
Does your pet have a microchip?  A microchip is one of the surest ways to make sure your pet gets home if it slips away and ends up with a stranger or at a shelter.  But, a microchip is only as good as the registered information.  Each microchip has a unique ID number that is read by a microchip scanner.  That number is registered with the company that produced the microchip (such as HomeAgain, 24PetWatch, AVID, and others).  The company has a database that matches your pet's microchip ID number to your information. If you've moved, changed phone numbers, or recently adopted your pet and aren't sure if the information is correct, you need to talk to the company the registered the microchip!

Need to find out your pet's microchip ID number? Stop by the Monroe County Humane Association from 4:30pm-6:30pm and one of our volunteers will scan your pet and tell you the microchip number and how to contact the company to update your contact information.

If your pet doesn't have a microchip yet, but you need to get one, stop by and we'll have staff on hand to microchip your pet for $10!

If you have questions or would like to volunteer, Email us!

Corporate Sponsorship Opportunities at the Run for the Animals!

Deadline extended to August 15th!

Don't miss one of the greatest opportunities to support local animal welfare in our community!

MCHA aims to provide and work towards a more humane future for Monroe County pets by combating animal cruelty, offering humane education, spay/neuter assistance and regular visits with therapy animals. Many lives, humane and animal alike, are touched by the work of the MCHA. All this and more is only possible because of the generous support of our community. The MCHA is a 501c3 nonprofit that receives no funding from national organizations or tax dollars.  We hope you will show your support of the important work provided by the MCHA by becoming a corporate sponsor of the 2014 Run for the Animals.  Visit here to learn how to become a sponsor.
