Accepting Applications for Volunteer Facilitators
Our volunteer facilitators often tell us they get as much as they give from their work at The Children's Room.

"Every time I'm volunteering I go home feeling like I've contributed something special to the world."
- TCR volunteer

Volunteer facilitators are an important part of our family peer support groups, serving children, teens, and adults.

Applications are still being accepted for our Fall 2014 Volunteer Facilitator Training, which starts Friday, September 5th.

Application is required to attend, and completion of training does not guarantee volunteer placement.

All applicants with interest in volunteering in our family peer support groups must complete the mandatory 33.5 hour training.

The training dates and application are available on our website.

TCR Staff Present at National Conference on Grieving Children
TCR staff lead conference participants in expressive arts activity
Last month, grief support professionals from across the United States and Canada came together for the 2014 National Alliance for Grieving Children Symposium.

A regular contributor at this annual conference, TCR staff presented a session on mindfulness and expressive arts, entitled "Finding Your [Piece] Peace."

Nancy Frumer Styron, Clinical Director, and Laurie Moskowitz-Corrois, Associate Program Director of Family & Expressive Arts, led participants in the experiential learning session.

Mindfulness is paying attention, with purpose and intention, to the present moment, without judgment. Integrating mindfulness and the expressive arts are unique aspects of TCR's model of grief support.

Our Heartfelt Thanks
We are grateful to so many of you whose support enables all that we do here at The Children's Room. A word of thanks for some special donations of time, talent, and much-needed resources:
  • Walk Committee members and volunteers who helped us address postcards to spread the word about the Annual Memories Walk.
  • Conneely Contracting Inc. and SERVPRO of Cambridge/Belmont for always being there for us when we need them and providing reliable and excellent service.
  • All our gifted, reliable, caring volunteers (close to 100!), without whom we could not reach nearly as many children and families... thank you, one and all.

The Children's Room has partnered with Donate for Charity to make it fast and easy to donate your old vehicle to TCR. Your vehicle will be picked up - free of charge! - from anywhere and TCR will receive a donation in the amount of the vehicle's value.
