Make Your Gift Go Farther with
Monterey County Gives!
Support the future of conservation, and make your  gift to Elkhorn Slough Foundation go farther.

Now through December 31, the Monterey County Weekly will match a portion of every gift you make to through the Monterey County Gives! campaign, supporting ESF's work with an extra 10-15 cents for every dollar contributed.

Your gift will support local conservation, education, and community outreach through efforts like our Slough Stewards program, which introduces local high school students the science and value of protecting our watershed.

And while the challenge lasts, your contribution will also be doubled by a generous matching grant from the Robert F. Hartmann Trust. Your gift will be doubled, as well as matched with an additional bonus from Monterey County Gives!

As part of preparing for this week's storms, ESF called on stewardship volunteers to spread straw over a degraded hillside to help limit erosion.
Getting Ready for the Rain
After a long dry spell, this season's rains bring welcome water to our plants, wildlife, and aquifers.

Yet heavy storms also have the potential to cause issues such as erosion and flooding.  With the promises and challenges of the rainy season in mind, our land stewardship team works year-round to prevent erosion by restoring native habitat, eliminating invasive weeds, and repairing damaged lands.

If you are interested in monthly opportunities to help restore Foundation lands, check our calendar for upcoming  Stewardship Events, or contact ESF Outreach Coordinator Katie Pofahl at katie@elkhornslough.org or (831)728-5939.
