Last Chance - Light and Motion

bike lights

It's not too late - you can still get a 25% discount on top-of-the-line bike or outdoor light through January 7th. Just go to the Light and Motion website and use the code "lightupelkslough" to save on ultra bright, lightweight lights to help you explore the great outdoors. Using this discount will also help Elkhorn Slough because Light and Motion is donating 7% of their earnings from these purchases to the Elkhorn Slough Foundation.

Volunteer Training

volunteers

Elkhorn Slough Reserve volunteer naturalist training begins this January. Discover the wonders of Elkhorn Slough and learn how to share those wonders with others. Naturalist training classes cover a variety of topics, from ecology and recent research to natural history and communication techniques. Orientation takes place January 12th with classes following in February and March. Download an application from our website today!

Calendars with Gift Memberships through January

calendar

The gift of nature - who wouldn't love that? Elkhorn Slough Foundation gift memberships allow your friends and family to enjoy the slough the whole year through, all while being reminded of your generosity. And now through the end of January each gift membership comes with a 2013 calendar, a little piece of Elkhorn Slough you can bring home with you.

Sightings

Sandhiill Crane

Did you see the Sandhill Crane at the slough last week? Learn about extraordinary sightings like this at our sightings blog, under our website's Slough Life section. We are constantly adding new sightings to this list of species found at the slough.

New Items in the Visitor Center

From sketch books and plush toys to jewelry and clothing, there is something for everyone in the Visitor Center book store. We've added lots of new items to our shelves, so be sure to check it out the next time you visit the Reserve! It's a great way to support the Reserve and get a little something for yourself, too.

Thank You!

volunteers

Last year you helped the Elkhorn Slough Foundation raise nearly $9,000 for the Visitor Center after MC Gives! partially matched each of your donations. This year you helped us raise even more, helping share the slough with more people. We are so grateful for your support and your generosity. The $9,638 raised through MC Gives! (before the partial match!) blew last year out of the water and will make a big difference here at Elkhorn Slough. Once again, thank you!

The Elkhorn Slough Foundation is a nonprofit, community-supported organization working to conserve and restore Elkhorn Slough and its watershed. The Foundation works with local, state and national constituencies to protect our natural heritage.
